Food is authentic Indian. Have plenty of great dosa variants. Servers and the owner himself are quite friendly. Budget... friendly. Amazing taste and a definite hidden gem in Ottawa. Highly recommended. Read more

I really liked the food. The food was great and fresh. No complaints about the food or the service. What did bother my... experience and what made me take some stars away was the organization of the business. I think they may have been severelyunderstaffed for a full restaurant. Which also lead to our meals being served nearly 10mins a part (my friend had to watch meeat til their meal came) and between our meals I saw about 4 other tables get food….. not sure what that was about. Also nocommunication…. All in all i dont think I would return unless it was slow business day for them. I didnt mind waiting 20minsfor a table, but at a restaurant I do wish I couldve eaten with my table. Check out @carinadventures on instagram for more foodreviews Read more

We had a quick dinner at Thanjai on a Friday evening. The place has limited seating and the wonderful aromas of sambar hit you... the minute you walk through the door. We had Medu Vada Sambar which was nice but the vadas weren't crispy. Probably because theywere dunked in sambar but the taste was good. The Mysore Masala Dosa and Podi Masala Dosa were amazing. Sambar and Coconutchutney were on point. The red tomato and onion chutney tasted off. Look forward to trying their meat and seafood items. All inall a good dining experience. Our server was very pleasant too! Would recommend for satisfying south Indian fare. Read more

The quality of food has changed. Had worst experience. Customer Service sucked as well as the food was awful! Literally mashed... potatoes are better than the stuffing in the Dosa’s. ‘Popular Dosa dish not so popular’. This was my last visit to thisrestaurant after awful experience. Sambhar was very tasteless. Read more

Shared the FOUR FOOT DOSA with my friend. We came sooo close to finishing it. So yummy and a great experience. Came with 4... sides: coconut chutney, potato curry, sambar and some sort of tomato chutney? I may be way off! To finish off, I had a SouthIndian coffee. Tasted different, reminded me of Turkish coffee. Very yummy though! Read more

We loved our experience at Thanjai! We’ve been searching for a great South Indian restaurant in Ottawa and were so happy to be... recommended to this place. The dosas were incredible and they reminded us of being back home in Chennai. The chicken 65 couldcompete with the best chicken 65’s from any of the South Indian states. The place is unassuming yet charming - much like thecasual haunts you’ll find in India. The price points are very good so it’s affordable to enjoy a great meal. Both therestaurant manager and Chef (Rajath and Viral) were very kind and chatted with us for awhile to get our feedback andsuggestions. Definitely recommend this place if you want an authentic South Indian meal :) Read more
