Coming from a family of pie makers, I feel I've had my share of pies to know that this pie from Life of Pie underwhelmed. The... pastry was very pale and bland, and it wasn't flakey. The filling was okay but didn't impress. It was a key lime pie, and Idon't recall ever having one that uses coconut which this one seemed to have in the filling making it gritty rather than creamy.The topping was alot of whipped cream, and except some decorative flecks of lime zest it was just cream and, hence, also bland.Service was okay. Life of Pie is definitely the best bakery in Ottawa if not Ontario!!! I purchased organic gluten free egg bread for all the crew... at work and it was only 5$ a loaf...so good I ate a piece as soon as I got home..and didn't need butter!!!! Life of Pie is a beautiful cute little family owned bakery. Their desserts are amazing! Kerry, the owner, is such a sweetheart.... They also have private baking classes which were so much fun! We made pastry dough, quiche and fruit tarts and can?t wait to doanother class soon. Definitely recommend stopping by this gem for breakfast or for a nice cup of coffee or try the baking classfor a fun hands on experience! Read more
Super friendly staff, warm and spacious ambiance, and amazing baked goods! I?ve had the blueberry pie and the cherry pie in the... past and the crust is perfect! Good for families, a date, or for anyone to hang out. Each table has a cute succulent, and thechairs and table are wooden. There?s a lot of stuff you can buy to go. If you?re looking for something specific, your best betis to make an order in advance. I love pie. And I really wanted to love this place. The Service is atrocious. They don?t have a proper system set up. If you... want to cup of coffee you have to wait for the person in front of you to have her 25 items prepared. I mean actually preparedmaking sandwiches and heating up soups.
