I dropped in for a snack, and a cocktail. I immediately felt like I was at a friends home. Duck breast tartare was suggested and... it was an absolute hit.The suggested pairing was a Pinot noir, this team knows and loves what they are doing. Everything was amazing, this place has huge potential. My only critique, is the cost/serving size is going to deter repeat... business. Around $25 a dish for small plates, ~3 dishes per person, you?re looking at a minimum of $75 per person before drinks,dessert, tax, or tip. Read more
I try not to go to the same place twice. There are so many gems in Ottawa, and so many I have yet to see, so I try to spread the... love. But anytime I have plans for dinner, Erling's is the first place that pops into my mind. I have been a handful of times inthe last few years (the most I have ever visited one spot) and it's perfect every time. I love that you can see right into thekitchen. The care and concern that go into each plate. A seat at the bar is a unique spot to feel right in the kitchen too.Their food is creative, fresh, on point, and delicious. I have had the same server every time, which is pretty cool, and tellingof a wonderful small place. The menu changes, so I don't feel like I am ever getting the same thing. Service - excellent. Our server saw us catching up, and graciously let us ask for the bill instead of hurrying us out. Ambiance... - beautiful! intimate, casual elegance. Food - we shared 4 plates and I felt like it was enough but my friend would have liked alittle bread. Olives, cheese, fennel salad, and the mushroom/artichoke dip (this was a flatbread with mushroom/artichoke dip ontop, not for actual dipping but it was the best dish by far). Best brunch ever. Chicken waffle was simply amazing, sweet & spicy sauce covering the perfect fried chicken over waffle, never... had anything like this before. The kitchen is 'real' open concept kitchen, every dish prepared right in front of you. This placegives you a feeling of being at your own kitchen, surrounded by huge family. Read more
Had a great time at Erling's. We were a party of 4. At the advice of the owner, who was also our main server, we ordered 2... plates per person to share. It was actually more food than we needed. All was good, some excellent. The atmosphere and the vibeare friendly and caring. We will go back when we return to Ottawa. Highly recommend. Read more
