Another gem of a restaurant in Ottawa. Lunch specials are hearty and the 99 cent margaritas are a bargain even though they're... watered down. Guacamole was divine! Salsa was ok but since I salted mine it got better. Service was quick. All in all, a greatlunchtime bargain. Read more

If it's a Taco Tuesday this is worth going out of the way for discounts on tacos and margaritas. The good: margarita was very... tasty and I greatly enjoyed their pulled beef taco. Prices are spectacular on taco Tuesday. The meh: chicken taco was aboutaverage. Can be a bit busy and parking choices may be slim. The bad: the place was understaffed and overworked when we went.You may wait a while and there may be inaccuracies. Read more

Okay, so I haven?t been to this place in years and I remember it being pretty good when I still lived in Ottawa (2 years ago).... But I was in town with my cousin and decided to take them to lunch and they decided to go to El Sol. Me, remembering that it wasa pretty good Mexican restaurant, decided that was a good idea. Our waiter was really good, super nice, could work on hiscommunication skills (Asking about sides, specifications for certain foods like type of meat or beans, etc.), but besides forthat he was really good. The starter chips and salsa is what really set the tone when we got there, The chips were hard as arock and super cold, like they felt like they just came out of the fridge. We got our main food like not even 8 - 10 minutesafter we ordered it which seems a little odd, my burrito was warm-ish but not like ?fresh from the fryer? hot like it should be,so I?m going to say on the fresh food scale, it was cold. My Queso cheese was mediocre warm and was super watery. To be honest,the plate itself was hotter than the food was, sadly to say. The guacamole wasn't the best but was ok and the sour cream waseither spoiled or something was just up about it because it tasted bad. It was sad to see this place go in this direction. Thestaff was great, all were very nice, only reason why I?m giving a 2 star. I know that covid has hurt a lot of businesses (meknowing personally because I help run a family restaurant) but there is NO EXCUSE for food to be coming out of the kitchen COLD.I hope this could be found helpful to someone.
