We were excited to try this place out. It gained a mixed review. I'm going to start with the con, just because it's glaring. It... took FOREVER to get our food. Party of two. No wait. Not a packed house, but decent amount of people. We sat down at 6:45ish.Ordered one appetizer and two burgers/fries almost immediately after she brought our drinks. Appetizer took about 15 minutes tocome out, not terrible. But our actual meals? Took over an hour. The waitress came and apologized at least twice. Don't expectto be in and out. The kitchen isn't fast even on simple meals. Also, it said it was a sports bar but no sports were on, I'm notsure if that's a normal thing? It is a Monday night so I expected some NFL, but that's not too big of a deal for me. Just a notein case it is for you. Heck, they might turn them on if you ask. I didn't think to ask. That said...The pros. The service waswonderful. Amy was incredibly friendly, our drinks were always refilled quickly, she got everything we needed and like I said,very apologetic about our long wait. The food came out very hot and fresh, and though we thought the burgers could use someseasoning, they were done well and the buns were toasted too which was a nice touch. Big burgers, large serving of waffle fries.The patio was closed for the season but there's still a really nice view of the river. Avoid the breakfast buffet. Food is cold and overcooked from the night before if you come early. Each table complained while I... was there. The profit margins are good on the breakfast buffet, so there is no reason to reheat cheap breakfast from the daybefore. Warming food up to temp before serving is an easy task that even the most unmotivated employee can handle. (Not the dayI was there I suppose) If you're going to have a buffet with only the Paddle Inn for competition and McDonald's doing fast foodin slow motion, be the best and be proud of what you serve. I can only imagine how the food was handled prior to making it outon the buffet. So simple to get it right. When fixed let me know and my family will spend 60 dollars again to try it out. Highly recommend. We enjoyed it. Food was good. Little on expensive side. My margarita was just shy of $10. Nice waitress.

Food was amazing. During our stay we had dinner here every night because it was one of the only places that stayed open past 8.... We were never disappointed. The rack of ribs was massive, beef dip sandwich was glorious, and the staff was always friendly. Read more

Managerial service is terrible. We waited 45 minutes for food in a half empty restaurant with lots of staff. My grouper... sandwich was crusted in rock hard batter fragments. I told our server who apologized. She returned quickly to say that hermanager wanted to see the dish. So they took my plate from me to show the manager! You?re gonna make me wait 45 minutes forgarbage and then take it away from me with intent on bringing it back! Nah. The manager never came by to speak to us, andstill charged $3 for onion rings that were also taken. Ordered a cosmopolitan and it wasn?t a cosmopolitan. Onion ringsoverdone, cold fries. We have stayed at the Huron House B & B for many years and have always enjoyed eating at the AuSable Inn for just as long. The... staff has always been friendly and the food was tasty. Over the last several years we had varied experiences with the food,some good, some not so good and we learned that the reason was probably due to changes in ownership. The last time or two wewere in Oscoda the restaurant was closed. This past August (2021) we were at the Huron House and learned that the AuSable Innhad just opened for business once again and that the original owner was now back. We decided to give it another try. The staffwas friendly, the food was tasty and arrived quickly, and our waiter was polite and engaged us in friendly conversation. Mywife has always enjoyed their pepper jack soup and during our last visit she was able to order it once again. I could be wrong(we only eat at the restaurant once a year or every couple of years) but I think the original menu used to have more foodoptions than the current one. During this visit (August 2021) we ate on the back patio which overlooks the river. The tablesand coverings appeared to be brand new and the view of the river in the afternoon sunshine was peaceful and a nice setting forour meal. Now that we know the original owner is back we will be back on any future trips to Oscoda. Read more
