Reviews for Clay Oven Indian Cuisine in Orangevale, CA
Terrible dry as rock momos with only tablespoon full of sauce on the side…? Sure the service is really good and all but come... on if I’m paying $25 for a plate of momos I expect decent food Read more
For me, it's not the best tasting Indian food I have tried. My comparison would be from the latest Indian place (Namaste) I had... 2 days ago in San Francisco. I ordered Basil Garlic Naan, the Regular Naan and Chicken Tikka Masala. The texture of the naan wastoo chewy and the garlic was overpowering that I didn't taste any basil flavor. The flavor of the Tikka Masala has a weirdsweetness and sourness that I didn't expect to taste. I haven't tried a lot of Chicken Tikka Masala but I wasn't a fan of theirversion. Read more
We ordered 1 plate momos, 2 samosas and chilli paneer. All three things were full of oil, Specially momos. Momos were oil filled... like 3-4 ml oil in each momo. We ended up paying $35 for eating oil. Reviews were good so we came here for the first time. Ifyou are s big fan of oil. This is a good place as food was fresh and taste was okay. Read more
This place use to be great but since the change of ownership the quality is horrible. I ordered over $40 worth of food and only... found a couple of pieces of meat in the three curries I ordered. Seems like the new owners are very cheap. The food taste verywatered down and bland. THIS IS NOT REAL INDIAN FOOD. Save your money and go to a real Indian restaurant otherwise you will getscammed. Overpriced and absolutely no quality or respect for their customers. When picking up the food a couple was in wantingto dine in but were rudely declined, instead the server said it's take out only. Makes sense since they want to scam everyoneinto giving little food and very little meat. I might as well have ordered vegetarian. VERY DISAPPOINTED, WILL NOT RETURN HEREAGAIN. Will take further action against this "restaurant" so they stop scamming people. Read more
Recently tried this restaurant while looking for something different. Everything we got was fantastic. We will definitely be... regulars from now on. Our second visit we got a sampler dish and again, nothing I didn't like. One dish was a little spicy formy wife but it's my new favorite. It's called Dal Makhani. I'm Filipino so I eat it over rice I make at home. Perfect. Samosas(vegetarian) were flavorful. Naan bread with spinach and goat cheese was another over the top hit. I took picture but only afterwe tore into it, apologize. I'll be adding more I'm sure. Read more
They said food would be ready in 15 min but it took 40 minutes. The samosa was not crispy and they only gave tamarind chutney,... no mint chutney. The seikh kabab was dry and tough. My dog liked it because it gave him something to knaw on. Very disappointed.I have eaten Indian foods many many times and this was the worst. Read more
When Chef Dines... We craved Nepali food, so we went to New Namaste. The service was friendly and courteous, but unfortunately,... we will not be coming back. We had: 1. Namaste Veggie Platter $7.99 (4 Momo, 2 Himalayan Samosa, 2 Hara Kebabs + Naan Bread andfour sauces.)They don't even do their Momos. The dumplings come from a vendor. Nothing on the plate was tasty. The Hara Kebabswere kind of stale. 2. Namaste Lamb Special $13.99 The lamb was even tender, but the red chili sauce was watery and sour -overpowered with tamarind. 3. Shrimp Tikka Masala $13.99 The best dish on the table. The shrimps were cooked properly. Thesauce was creamy, but not seasoned enough. 4. Tandoori Chapati $2.49 Way too dense and dry. 5. Mango Lassi $2.99 Badlybalanced flavors. There was almost no yogurt in the blend. Very sweet. 6. Beer - Real Gold $3.99 A light lager with a smoothfinish. In short: (1-5) * Taste: 1/2 * Presentation of the dish: 1/2 * Standard of the restaurant: 1/2 * Waiting time: okay *Dishes worth the money: No * Portion size: Medium * Service: Friendly * Cleanliness: Moderate * Type of restaurant: Everydaydining Overall: Do not recommend.
