We had brunch there this last Saturday and it was delicious! The chicken and waffles was the best I have ever had. The waffles... were like funnel cake, so sweet I didn't need syrup! And service was great, I think our waitress was Taylor. Very friendly andquick with refills. Love that the old home was repurposed into a restaurant! Read more
Let me start by bragging about our server, Francine. The sheer number of trips she made from our table to the kitchen probably... tested her patience beyond measure, yet she still kept an amazing attitude and really tried to salvage as much of our visit aspossible. Now let’s talk about the sheer catastrophe the kitchen made of our meal. We started with the fried gator tailappetizer and we both ordered the Captain’s Platter meal that came with shrimp, scallops, oysters, fish and stuffed crab. Theywere out of crab so we were allowed to double up on one of the other choices. I doubled up on scallops and he doubled up on theshrimp. I ordered all blackened which is where things get crazy. The kitchen prepared my entire order fried. Francine returnedto the kitchen and I watched my boyfriend eat while I watched. The kitchen sent Francine back out with my remade order, onlythis time they forgot my doubled scallops and my oysters. Francine returned with a side plate of scallops cooked correctly, andthen the kitchen gave her a plate of fried (not blackened) oysters for a second time. This is considered to be a fine diningexperience among many Clay and Duval residents, for me… it fell short. If not for the amazing dining staff I wouldn’tconsider returning. I sincerely hope that the experience we had today isn’t indicative of the normal experience. Read more
A great value for amazing fresh seafood! I had the Captain's Platter with fried fish, oysters, deviled crab, scallops, and... shrimp. The fries and collards were on point for sides. And, the portions were huge! I took half of it home for another meal. Myserver was Rebecca C and she really took good care of me. She was attentive and very professional. I’ll start off with what we love about this place. The snow crab is so delicious. Never disappoints. I’ve only been here a... handful of times and my husband’s and my platters are always great. However I’ve noticed that the same attention is not puton the kids dishes. This last time our experience was really poor when it came to that. We ordered a kids cheeseburger for myson and shrimp with fries for my daughter. Her shrimp were so over cooked seasoned she didn’t eat more than a bite from one.But we didn’t complain, they were pretty busy. My sons cheeseburger well I’ll just leave a picture to describe the tinypatty with the giant bun. They really didn’t care for their meal even though they love shrimp and burgers. I was glad weordered gator tail because they devoured that :) We were also given crab crackers at the end of our meal because the waiter hadthe hardest time finding some :/ We will be back for sure but will skip the kids menu and just order from the regular menu forthe kids. Our server was fantastic; this is number 1 for me!! The coffee was perfect. I enjoy black coffee and the perfect cup is robust... without tasting burnt or like cigarettes! We tried the deviled eggs appetizer and I was impressed. Sometimes commercial deviledeggs are rubbery and the filling is bland; these were delicious with bacon toppings! Our meals were in large portions and wecould only eat half; the rest was gone at our late lunch! I highly recommend for a wonderful Sunday brunch experience!! Read more
I love this place. I love to meet friends here for happy hour drinks and to share apprizers. I’ve been going here friends and... on date night with my husband since before the pandemic. I came here the other night and had a great experience with our serverRandi. She made sure we had a wonderful time. She also reminded us about the specials the restaurant offers-We are going toorganize a girls night soon for the lobster night! We are so excited. They still offer the oyster on the half shell special onenight a week. Call them to check out those opportunities. I was so impressed to see that they seem to be expanding theirdinning area as they have hired someone to painting murals in the store across the deck from the original entrance. So nice. This is an update to my previous review. I originally gave them 3 stars. I'm changing it to 1 star. I contacted Phoebe because... she responded to my review & asked me to contact her. I reached out to her & was offered a gift card (I did not ask for one) togive them another opportunity to improve my experience. I have emailed her 2xs asking how she was going to send the gift card.I have been ghosted. OP Fish House is hit or miss. Usually Sundays are the best day to go. Today just didn't do it. The foodtook a very long time & even though it looked delicious, it was cold. My family & I have been here numerous times. It's eithergreat or mediocre. I'm sure they are dealing with supply issues & a lack of wait staff just like everyone else. It will beawhile before we try it again. Read more
