I will start by saying, we did enjoy ourselves and we will come back. The Hobbit is a dining experience. The food, the... setting, the opportunity to meet and socialize with people you don’t know makes for an enjoyable evening. The Hobbit isexpensive. You start with cocktails upstairs ( they are included on the check but you should tip your bartenders). When youhave hors d'oeuvre in the wine cellar, you can purchase wine to go with dinner. My Brother in law bought a Red and I bought twobottles of Riesling (I brought one home) The food was delicious. I had the beef. My husband had the Chilean Seabass. The4 stars overall is that I have food allergies that I disclosed multiple times and the my first beef plate came out with thevegetable that I am allergic to so I was done. They brought me another plate but my enthusiasm was dampened. Dessert was goodbut entrees were the star. I found it difficult to find a reservation but perseverance and patience paid off. We will return! Read more

Have wanted to dine here for a number of years and finally had the opportunity. It's a super cute space - converted home that... has a ton of charm but no central air. I'm guessing that's not an issue most of the year, but on a 100 degree day, it was aserious problem. All of us were really uncomfortable the entire time with the possible exception of the time spent in the winecellar which was cooler, but packed with the entire guest list for the evening. Super wine list if not a bit over priced. Predinner cocktails were excellent, although the "bar" was in a tiny room upstairs and there was a long wait for hand craftedcocktails. That is really a shame as I would've loved a second before dinner. Outstanding selection of spirits. Dinner wasgood but not out of this world. Plating was beautiful and service was very good. I was really disappointed with the beefwellington and wish I'd opted for the fish option. Beef was fine, but just a let down for expectations. A couple of issues, beyond the uncomfortable temperatures in the building, that really stood out... Intermission, we were asked to leave the tablesso they could do a re-set. Sounded great but we returned the the same soiled linens just re-folded, and soiled butter dishes andknives. Not the most egregious thing, but it still seemed pretty tacky. Another thing that stood out is they don't enforce thedress code. They are very adamant on their website about what is and what isn't acceptable/permissable, but there were a numberof guests dressed in clothing that was supposedly "unacceptable." Disappointing. The pricetag for dinner per person is prettyreasonable, but you're probably going to drop at LEAST $200 per person if you just have soft drinks. For an experience likethat, I just feel a bit let down. I guarantee that I have higher expectations than most, so I would still recommend the place, but ultimately, it's no 5 star experience. It is memorable, however, and for a special occasion would be a go Read more

This place was absolutely amazing. I'd first heard about it through Reddit and knew I had to go. My wife and I went for our... anniversary and the reservations took way shorter than want we had anticipated and were able to get in within a couple weeks. When we arrived we saw the amazing iron gate and the beautiful glass "h" and were greeted warmly by a host letting us know theywere expecting us. Cocktail hour was very fun and we were able to tour the ample wine cellar and return to our table where ourdelicious cocktails were waiting for us. The pre fixe menu started promptly and we were treated to a plate of hors d'oeuvres anda glass of champagne. The service of the hors d'oeuvres was nice as we were much more likely to try all of them as opposed tosticking to recognizable ones as we might have if they were self serve. The fish course was a wonderful scallop, and the fowlwas an absolutely beautiful seared duck breast. After that there was an intermission where we got to walk around and have wineon the patio. We returned from intermission to a nice sorbet to cleanse our palates. The main course of roasted lamb was nextand I have to say it was the best lamb I've ever had. The apple tart dessert was just as amazing as everything else and I had awonderful hot chocolate to close it off. In honor of our anniversary they even gave us their "Hobbit love potion" tocelebrate. All in all this was one of the best meals of our lives and for a very reasonable price. The decor was very quaintand homey and the service was impeccable. Everyone should go and have a nice night here. We can't wait to go again for adifferent menu. Read more

Absolutely amazing. This was well worth the cost and the wait (I made the reservation months ahead to make sure I could get in... when a friend was visiting from out of town). The food was amazing, everyone cleaned every place, the wine cellar is an amazingexperience and we really enjoyed the wine we choose. Only wish we had gotten a little more information about each course we wereeating, but overall this was just a great experience and I'd love to have the opportunity to go again. Read more

Elegant dinner experience. The food was excellent and beautifully done. There are 5 courses or bust, so come hungry. The wait... staff were all very friendly and informative. There's also a wine cellar you can walk around and oogle at the selection or buyfor your table! Listen, it's not called The Hobbit for nothing. If you're familiar with the story, Hobbit's have multiple mealsin a day. I, personally, felt as though each course was 1st dinner, second dinner, supper, and so on. Be prepared to stay awhiletoo, there's an actual intercession. My party and I loved it so much we vowed to come every menu change, every 3 months or so.Loved IT! Read more

A delicious spot well worth waiting for. Reservations can take months, but the old adage "good things come to those who wait"... cannot be exemplified more in their carefully selected pre fixe menu. Each dish is presented beautifully and tastes wondrous.Expect to enjoy the entire four-hour dining experience. Read more
