It was more of a 3.5 or so. The food was good. It wasn't anything to write home about, but better than chain options like... Dickeys. The brisket on the sandwich was a little too fatty and not enough of the meat itself. Not a huge deal. The mac andcheese could use a little makeover, but it wasn't terrible. The fries were on point! This place is a hit or miss. The first time we ordered food from here the bbq was delicious and moist. However the second time... the bbq was more on the dry side. I did enjoy their fried pickles. We ordered their brisket plate and pulled pork sandwich. Alsotheir max and cheese is definitely recommended! Read more

Food was pretty disappointing. Pulled pork was cold by the time I got it, mac and cheese was just buttered shells with shredded... cheese that wasn't even melted on top and corn bread was pretty bland too. I don't ask for too much out of bbq restaurants butthis was not it. The bbq sauce is good and the customer service is great but the actual food was not worth it. Read more
Very friendly staff. If you're not sure what you want ask for a recommendation. Our server recommended the half rack pork ribs.... They were delicious. The owner stopped over to check on our experience. What a nice man he was. The bathrooms were spotless. 5 Stars ???? Read more
Wow, was I disappointed. I really wanted to like Smoking Jays but most of the food was completely inedible. The brisket was all... fatty, no smoke taste, and smelled like dirty water. The mac and cheese was flavorless and dry. The fries were decent but smallportion for the only food that is worth a bite. I could only get through one bite of the sandwich before I started feelingqueasy. Definitely not the best bbq in Omaha. Read more
Edit: THE OWNER DID REACH OUT; HE IS KIND AND TAKES HIS REVIEWS TO HEART AND THAT MEANS HE WILL JUST GET BETTER EVERYDAY! I did... change to 5 star the owner is a great person. He will do perfect. Just tighten up some lose ends. Food needs to be improved. Buthe is on the right track! The absolute worst food ever! In this pic is a $70/full rack of ribs with sides that all come out ofa can! They are absolutely the most flavorless, generic brand tasting food I have ever tasted. And I am not even kidding!
