Tried to come here last night for my anniversary with my girlfriend. We grew up in Texas where we had shoguns and loved it. What... I've never heard of with Shoguns needing a reservation. We came in and there was basically no one there, 7:30 at night on aTuesday and we needed to have a reservation to be able to dine. There's nothing on the website that says reservation preferredor reservations needed. There is a reservation tab, but it's optional. There shouldn't have been a problem sitting two peoplewhen there was maybe only 2 tables. You could hear a fly cough it was so dead and quiet in there. So for-warning you're gonnaneed a reservation or you gonna have a 30min-1hr wait. Read more

We went to Shogun for a birthday party. A reservation was required and you have to call after 1 pm to do the reservation. So if... you want a specific time you may need to reserve a few days in advance. We were seated timely, the staff were very friendly. Thetwo reasons I gave 4 stars instead of 5 were the very dim lighting in the room and the fact that one of their chefs had calledin sick which left us waiting over an hour at one point in the meal. However they get high marks for their ability to solveproblems on the fly. The chef we had was extremely well trained, great sense of humor, very flashy skills and fantastic food!Well worth the visit! Read more

Warm and cozy environment. It's nice that the tables have some separation from each other. Our chef was delightful and all of... the food was delicious! Read more

I think some have been hard on the place for slow service. While staffing issues have undoubtedly affected this business as it... has countless others, this was never a place to expect the same speed of service as in a typical restaurant. Even while othersin my party might have found the wait rather long, I took it as an opportunity to take in the whole atmosphere of a place from adifferent era. While the prices may seem a bit high, they are for a full set of courses and the entertainment of having thefood cooked in front of you. The food was good but I would not call it authentic Japanese which is fine - I wasn't expectingthat. Go in understanding what to expect and I believe you will have a great experience here. And making a reservation ahead oftime is highly recommended! Read more

The wine is good. I'm a wine drinker and I liked their options. The bartender was dry and he was matter of factly. He just had a... very flat unwelcoming personality. That's why I took off a star. The food was great and the table experience was fun andexciting. I will definitely go back. This time I will know what I want to drink without asking for a suggestion from a flatbartender. Read more

We told the waitress no shellfish/shrimp. She did not share that with the cook so he drops an entire tray of shrimp on the... grill. He had to get the grill cleaned up before cooking other food as a member of our party is deadly allergic. The food wasokay but the chef was not entertaining at all. We had told the children with us how fun the experience would be because the chefdoes fun things while cooking. That did not happen so the kids were disappointed. Other members in our party might go back but Iwas not impressed so I'll find other places to eat Japanese / Asian food. When paying $20+ per plate & almost $4 for a glass ofwatered down soda you expect to be a little impressed. Read more

I love Shoguns. I always have. Great food. The people are and always have been very friendly. My husband and I went out for a... date night and we enjoyed our meal. And we?ll go back. But I do feel like I need to say that it may be time to do some upgrades.Don?t change it. Just upgrade a bit. There was a bit of an unpleasant fishy smell when we walked in the door. That?s somethingI?ve never experienced there before. Maybe just a fluke thing, but it was definitely pungent. Unfortunately, our table thistime was a tough crowd for our chef. I felt bad for him. The chef was doing his best to entertain and some of the people sittingwith us could have cared less. If I could?I?d like to remind people to just be kind when you?re out dining. Chefs, servers, entertainers, etc. are there to make a living. Don?t make it hard on them or hassle them or treat them poorly. You wouldn?t wantsomeone walking into your office giving you a hard time. Always be kind. Lead by example. Anyway, back to this review, Shogunshad good food. I?d recommend the filet of sol. Always tasty. Read more

It's not clear what happened here, but this Shogun was EXTREMELY understaffed. They might have had 2 chefs and 2 servers. It... took nearly 10 minutes for us to be seated - with a reservation. Once we were seated, it took almost 15 minutes to get a drink. We were not served our first food until about an hour after our reservation time, about 45-50 minutes after being seated. Tocap it off, the chef clearly had limited or no hibachi training. He did his best, but the food was sub-par and BLAND for ahibachi restaurant, and there was essentially no show. And finally, to add insult to injury, the prices were SIGNIFICANTLYhigher than menu price. We understand supply chain issues, but the difference was about 20%. Ridiculous, given the poor qualityand service. I don't blame the staff. I feel they did their best, but clearly there are serious issues at this restaurant. Theserver was kind and patient, the chef was nice, but clearly this staff is out of their depth. We will try again after asignificant period of time, once this restaurant has had time to recover from whatever disaster caused its major issues. Read more
