I'm so thrilled that Chapala is only 5 minutes from our house. The service is always wonderful - so much so that when my... mother-in-law was in town and asked if they had a milder salsa, our server went to the kitchen and made a fresh salsa just forher. Wow what a pleasant surprise! We were headed to a chain Mexican restaurant and spotted this place along the way and decided to... stop here instead. It is family owned and appeared to be staffed by family members. The salsa was uniquely good with a slightbit of heat. Chips were freshly made and hot. All four of us were pleased with our entre'choices which were generously sizedand tasty. Also the beverage choices are wide ranging and reasonably priced. The house margaritas are verygood!!! I had family from Mexico visiting and of course we all wanted authentic Mexican food. Since Chapala is near my home, we went... there for dinner. Each one of us ordered different dishes. The food is beyond delicious!!!! The portions are huge; friendly,nice and polite service. I plan to make Chapala my official authentic Mexican restaurant. Will go there very often. Great variety in apps, drinks, and entrees. Has a ton of DELICIOUS items I haven't seen elsewhere here, especially their... seafood. Every item with shrimp is a winner - especially in soup or with that crema sauce. We usually have them door dashed(always comes correct and super hot), but hit it in person today. We went to Chapala Family Mexican Kitchen when the lakefront alternative had a 45+ minute wait, and boy was that a good... decision. No line, great service, and amazing hot and fresh food. I don?t post a lot of reviews on Google. This place is worthy of one. For those who have commented that there is no flavor:... either you had a case of Covid, you have bland tastes to begin with and intentionally ordered something without flavor, you havedrank too many bottles of hot sauce and burned off your taste buds, or you are just lying ???????????. The food is PACKED withflavor. The salsa served with the chips has lots of interesting spices - it?s a bit hotter than I typically like, but the hintof sweetness made up for that. The chips are rich and thick. I had the Trio Enchiladas (chicken, loaded up with chicken) andeach sauce was something he king special. My favorite was the salsa verde as it had a special tanginess that enriched it. Theweaker of the three was the red sauce, but it was still good. I?ll be back to this gem. I agree with others that this is ahidden treasure for Oklahoma City?s culinary scene. It definitely ranks high among the Mexican restaurants. Give it a try!! - -- - - I went back.
