We had an awesome experience here at Pelican?s Perch Bar & Grill. The menu has a great selection and everything was so fresh.... Best burger I have had in along time. My husband was very hungry and got a shrimp meal. It was very flavorful and great portionsize. The staff was very kind and checked on us often. Thank you for a great place to visit when in OIB. Spent a week at OIB for Oyster Fest and had many meals at this restaurant. The staff was so friendly, accommodating and the food... was delicious. It was great to see a place so well organized and staffed for the event. We waited no time and loved the food. Wewill definitely be back and recommend to all of our friends visiting the area. Horribly run!! When arriving we were greeted by a very unfriendly hostess who told us it would be a 45 minute wait due to short... staffing in the kitchen. 3 tables outside on a Friday night ( concert night) were open however. Literally 4 minutes later ( notthe 45 we were quoted) we were called in to be seated. Ordered 2 orders of hush puppies and when they arrived we were given patsof regular butter rather than the honey butter it was supposed to come with. We sent them back. The food was average overallbut came out in good time despite the claim the kitchen was too busy to seat anyone else for almost an hour. Throughout our mealwe overheard the wait staff complaining that the host staff was turning people away due to the short kitchen staff, even thoughthe kitchen staff was keeping up just fine ( and not complaining they were overworked) The wait staff had to have wordsmultiple times with the host staff to try to get their empty tables filled. The manager Sara ( perhaps the owner) was onvacation during the BUSIEST time of the year so the wait staff had to deal with the lack of cooperation themselves. We were toldby the staff the restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday over LABOR Day Weekend!! The staff was not happy as this is prime timefor them to make money. For the location and the business they get, this restaurant is severely mismanaged! This was our secondtime trying this restaurant and we won?t be back unless they hire FRIENDLY host staff who know how to do their job for starters. The hostess is the first impression of any restaurant and the vibe they gave to us and others walking in was ?go home we don?twant you here?. It?s a shame. Definitely a must try when in OIB. Great atmosphere, great staff, and awesome food! We had a group of 8 which included 3 older... kids and everyone enjoyed their food and raves about how good it was. Our waitress was phenomenal and so where all the otherstaff that interacted with us. The establishment is clean but has a laid back vibe. You can dine indoors or out on the patio.They do have a bar that seemed very well stocked. Try the BBQ Chicken Pita? you won?t be disappointed! Read more

We ordered the Pelican Bites (battered & fried bite-size pieces of Haddock) for an appetizer, and the Pelican Dip for the... entrée. The Pelican Bites were very good, but the Pelican Dip was even better -- generous portion of shaved steak with onions,bell peppers, and provolone. The flavorful au jus made the sandwich even tastier. We ordered it with a side off Sweet PotatoFries (which came with Apple Butter dipping sauce). One of our favorite places at Ocean Isle Beach. Terrific staff, too. Read more
