So this is gonna sound bad starting off but stay with me, I had a great pulled pork sandwich I wound up getting sick from. But... that said, we (the cook manager and I) did a review of ingredients and were able to determine that there was a allergen in thefood that I'm highly allergic to. Neither of us knew at the time but great experience all around and I know what to ask for nextgo so I don't get sick. 10/10 would highly recommend. Southern Pig & Cattle is a reliable place to take the family and have BBQ. Beyond the BBQ, they have a fantastic burger. Often... they have the prime rib and the prime rib sandwich which is like a French Dip. It is extremely convenient being in the SEsection of town. Holy biscuits. This probably one of the WORST BBQ places we have ever tried. At least top 2. You would think in the South they... would hold higher expectations for BBQ. I want to give this location the benefit of the doubt, but when you spend over $45 fortwo dinners you would hope at least something would be good. The fatty brisket looked like a pile of sliced roast beef, verydry, very sad. The 1/2 and 1/2 ribs platter had little to no meat and what was there was again, very dry and chewy. The coleslawwas flavorless and bland. And the corn, it's hard to mess up corn but I guess this place did it. Very mushy and unappetizing. Wewere quite disappointed that what we left on our plate and threw away was a majority of our meal. We did not eat in, this wasfor a takeout order and I will say the staff was quite nice. Read more

This place is new and very clean. Plenty of parking, private parking lot. Inside the place is huge. The food was average... barbecue. The sweet tea was average as well. The service was average to above average. The price was kinda high for what youget. The menu has everything you would expect. I recommend this place and I would try it again in the future. Sonny's vs Southern Pig and Cattle What happened to Sonny's? Check your to-go order before you leave! I have been going to... Sonny's BBQ in Florida since 1994. Around 2015 I stopped going to Sonny's as I felt the quality of the BBQ had severelydiminished. The food did not taste or look home cooked anymore, the food looked and tasted more commercialized. The quality fellto the level of Golden Coral buffet food. Then I discovered Southern Pig & Cattle Co. on Maricamp in 2020, and I was again, backto tasting wonderful BBQ food. Recently I decided to give Sonny's another go to compare the two. I noticed in recent years theSonny's franchise has revamped their restaurants, their logo and branding etc. Is it possible I have caught the Sonny'srestaurant on a bad night? The food was sub-standard. It was a Sat night 9pm and they close at 9:30pm. Let me begin with what Iordered. Baby back rib dinner with fries and coleslaw, dry texas toast. Chicken tender dinner with fries and bbq beans, drytexas toast. Big deal sliced pork on a bun with mac n cheese, and a large sweet tea. Ordered and paid using the drive thru,Silver Springs BLVD Ocala FL. I was never asked what sauce I wanted. So I asked for an assortment including the mustardsauce. So when I arrive home. No coleslaw. The chicken tenders were extremely dry as if they were deep-fried twice, or sittingunder a heat lamp for hours. Texas toast is now a slice of thin french bread? No assortment of sauce, I only got sweet sauce.The ribs were not tender at all. The ribs were tough as if they were not cooked very long. I know this sounds hard to believebut they were very hard to pull the ribs apart. The ribs were not basted and wet in sauce, at all. Decided to stop and try it out, if you have ever been to Sunnys their is not much difference in the two , the staff was polite... she returned several times to check on us , we both had half a rack and baked potatoes and garlic bread with a side of cornfritters Read more

Outstanding Barbecue joint. Everything is so clean and well kept. The salad bar is well stocked with a large, fresh... selection. The staff is very friendly. The ribs are the best. Those is a must stop restaurant. Oh, the ice cream cone whenyou are finished is a great treat. Read more
