We stopped by after a weekend at Alpine Lake and were not disappointed! I ordered the chicken and rib dinner and my husband... ordered the pulled pork. All of it was delicious! I stopped because i saw smoke rolling like a moth to a flame. I bought a whole rack of ribs, 1/2 lb brisket point and 1/2 lb... brisket flat to take home. I was satistfied with the tenderness of the brisket, however after 2 bites i trashed the ribs. Sitealone was not inviting but gave it a chance. Did not taste luke it was smokes, the meat was tender enough but for the life of mehow can any pit master be okay with not removing the silver skin backing. It maybaid in keeping the rack whole when removingfrom the smoker but its not something you want to bite into.removing the silver skin pre smoking allows for tender tasty ribsand allows the smoke to penitrate through the meat via both sides. Will i stop here again when in the area? More than likely forbrisket and to give pulled pork a try. However if i spen 50+$ again it wont be for the ribs. How unfortunate and disapointed iwas. Ill keep smoking my own ribs at home. I wanted to appreciate someone elses craft. Please pefect the ribs by starting withremoving the silver skin. It makes all the difference. Read more
Surprisingly good restaurant within walking distance of a lot of things in Oakland along 219. The food is beyond good & the... staff is top notch from the recommendations on the menu for a first time visitor to the owner making sure the food met hisstandards. Read more

On a recent trip to Oakland, we stopped at Sweitzer's BBQ for a quick dinner one Friday evening. I ordered a pulled pork BBQ... platter with fries and broccoli slaw and my wife ordered the half rack of ribs platter with macaroni & cheese and broccoli slaw.The meals were extra yummy. My wife said that the ribs were the best she has ever had out. Moist, tender, and full of flavor Mypulled pork BBQ sandwich was also excellent. Both the ribs and pulled pork had a perfect BBQ sauce - sweet but not too tangy.The young lady behind the counter could not have any been nicer. The owners who were working in the kitchen checked with usseveral times to see how everything was going. Wish we had a Switzer's BBQ back home. Oh well, I guess we will just have tocontinue to stop at Sweitzer's BBQ when we we are in the Oakland area. Read more
