I’ve been here several times now and the cocktails are great and it’s beautiful inside. That said, I just keep finding I... don’t really enjoy being there. It’s somewhat cold and since the entire place is concrete, it’s truly unbearably loud. Theacoustics are so awful and you can’t talk or hear anyone you’re with. The menu is overpriced and I wish they’d have itclearly marked what is vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc. Most bars and restaurants in Oakland these days do this standardnow. I’ve had a very tiny $6 bowl of sad, cold popcorn there as a supposedly vegan option. It just doesn’t live up to thehype for me after going about a dozen times. I want to support a queer bar but it doesn’t feel particularly welcoming or warm.YMMV especially if none of your queer friends are vegan. Read more
Super lovely place. As a cis white middle aged male I was unsure if the space was welcoming to me based on what I knew about it.... And when I saw the online pics I did not imagine the venue was as beautiful as it was depicted. All stars in my eyes. The staffwas amazing. The cocktail menu stellar. Umami popcorn salty and yummy. Amazing atmosphere and people. Severely lacking on the quality of cocktails and there were many mismatched tastes on the small... plates - especially for the price. They need to refine both food and drinks to match the hype (promotion?) they have received. Ihope a future visit can leave me with a new outlook. Read more
This is a great addition to the Oakland bar scene. Have you watched the second season on Dollface when the friend opens a bar... geared towards women as a safe space? This feels like that, but way better because it's genuine, not cheesy, and is a safe spacefor all. The drinks were well balanced and inventive. The bartender was knowledgeable and their bar is well stocked to makejust about whatever you can order. The waitstaff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We didn't order much food but thechicory salad was delicious as were the sunchokes. The only downside is that it is LOUD -- like Mua loud. Bring your outsidevoices for inside seating, or choose to sit in one of the two outside spaces where the cement walls and loft-style floor toceiling windows don't echo the noise. Read more
The food is genuine and tasteful. I came from LA just to try it. There were multiple layers and texture to each dish I had... ordered. Definitely worth the wait. The drinks were also amazing the bar owner came and gave high fives as well. This place is amust! Read more
