The curry here is bussin, as the kids would say. There?s a Japanese spot in Mountain View called Yugen that makes bomb katsu... curry. Since moving to Oakland I?ve been trying to find a place that compares to Yugen and this place does it for me. Dela Curowill be my go to spot for Japanese curry when the craving hits. It?s a small quaint shop in the swans market but dont be fooled.Try it! You will not be disappointed. Read more

Ok - I'm putting myself out there. This is NOT a hot take - this is the best Japanese curry I've had outside of - anywhere! I... wasn't a massive fan of Japanese curry, and after tasting Dela Curo's versions, I know why - because all the other curry I'vetried was trash compared to DC's version! These dishes themselves are straightforward - but not simple. I've tried all thedifferent versions on the menu (except for the vegetarian one - sorry), and they are ALL good. You can tell they put a lot ofthought, time, and effort into producing something that is both comforting and elevated. Read more

This is a unique culinary experience. There are a million and one curry dishes, but this black curry stands alone in its own... category. The fried food here is exceptional. I usually do the shrimp with a side of onion rings, but the omelette isremarkable regarding the texture of the eggs. Itadakimasu! Read more

Personally love Japanese foods. I was so happy to find a Japanese Curry place. Foods were good. Tasted very similar to Japan. In... fact, much better than Soba Ichi. Read more

Visited for the first time and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The curry was rich in flavor with a slightly tang. I?m... pretty picky with my rice and I liked that their rice was done right. We got the pork katsu and the fried chicken that I forgotto take photo of and they were freshly fried super juicy inside. Overall, both dishes tasted great and good portion size. Doublethumbs up from me! Will def return. Read more

Really delicious but more sauce needs to be included in the dish. Also the tonkatsu was dry. Next time, I'm going to try getting... the omelette version. Read more

Family of 4 enjoyed it. Wish there was a bit more curry. Portion is big. Onion ring was decent as well.

Very lovely curry and probably mostly unique in the Bay Area. You can argue about the portion size of say the omelet but... everything is well made. The omelet is very good with the curry and rice. The tonkatsu can be a bit dry but with the sauce andrice it becomes a non-issue. Dessert is also good too. Light and delicate (not too sweet!) to finish off the meal. The owneris also very nice and does check on you. Read more
