This is a hot dog stand from my childhood, it's right down the street from the original one that was spelled with a 'K' that's... now in the process to be reopened under a different name but still to have hot dogs but I digress. All of these Casper's with a'C' are really great. I love the one in Richmond and of course this one here in Oakland. Hot dogs are definitely underrated. Imiss the one in Albany greatly. We used to travel from our neighborhood to the one in Albany and sit there and just eat likelittle piggies. Back in the '80s and '90s that didn't have as many choices as they do now. The old standard was the mustard dogor the cheese dog. But now they have a hot link and some other good stuff. One thing about these hot dog stands is how theysteam the buns. You can always tell who the old timers are who work there. The buns will be perfectly steamed, on my most recenttrip that wasn't the situation. These were newer people who work there. They did not exactly steam the buns old school but Icould care less, I still ate my hot dog with a big smile on my face. Oh don't forget to get the specialty souvenir cup which ismade in the USA and is very dishwasher safe. I have about six or eight of them now and I don't even live within a hundred milesof a Casper's. Anytime I'm in a Bay Area that is definitely a stop for me. Read more
Casper's is the spot for the Long dog experience. Tho, I still don't trust their polish dog, looks too much the same dog as the... regular dog. I think I saw a double dog on their menu, that's street cred right there. Casper's never ghost you when you feelingblue. Read more
Cajun Cheesedog with Classic Lays and Coke is always a good meal!

Walking in the store is like walking back in time, even if the hot dogs are modern day prices. These hot dogs are solid!
Easy in easy out, even when there's a line. The dogs are always good, great snap on the casing. Buns are always steamed nicely... and the produce is always nice and fresh. I guess it would have to be, the go through is so fast, no chance for it to go bad. Ihad two of the Famous Casper Dogs, my usual. I love the fact that they put tomato on it. It works so well with the white onionand mustard. All in all, great hot dogs. Read more
