Reviews for Cam Huong in Oakland, CA
Not a good selection of che, but good options for banh mi, various lunch entrees, desserts (sticky rice, mostly), smoothies, etc... with good quality and reasonable prices. Store was clean and organized. Everything I?ve had here has tasted good (unlike Lee?sSandwiches which has poor quality control and the worst spring rolls and mediocre banh mi). Read more
Y'all I went to Vietnam recently and had banh mi's in Hanoi and Da Nang. All I could think about was how much better the ones... back home at Cam Huong tasted. Also I didn't get food poisoning either in the years I ate here unlike over there, where I had tostay in bed sick for a day after eating a banh mi ???? Best banh mi's everrrrr!! Just bursting full of flavor and the chickenis always on point. Been eating their food since childhood Another reason why Oakland is awesome ? seriously the Vietnamesefood game here is strong Read more
I love this place so much. The food is always fresh and delicious. The owner of this family-owned business is super nice and... works really hard to take care of her community. Read more
They have THEE best eggrolls in Oakland in my opinion and I truly enjoy the pork belly bahn mi and iced coffee! They have... something for everyone to enjoy since they have such a great variety of items. I just think they can get better wifi so thatthey don't inconvenience customer who use their phones to pay. It's happened a few times but they are easily forgiven due togood food and great service. I just call ahead to make sure it's working now ???? Read more
I've been coming to Cam Huong ever since it was located on Webster in Chinatown. I used to order food here for catering parties... at Asian Health Services. I've always had a crush on the younger lady who I speak to now and then. The food reminds me of oldOakland Chinatown which used to have affordable comfort food including Cantonese and Vietnamese food now hard to find, so goingto Cam Huong is like getting Soul Food to me. I've been coming here for 25 plus years. So the reasoning behind a 3 star reviewis this. I bought what I usually get, prepared rolls, a dessert from the freezer, ice coffee and a vegetarian sandwich - bichay. I waited and waited and heard the staff yelling at each other in Vietnamese about a vegetarian sandwich. And then Ithought oh great, I hope they don't mess it up. So it turns out after riding my food to the Lake on my bike to eat, afteropening my sandwich- it was filled with CURRY TOFU??? I was so insulted. To make it worse, the one I have a crush on madeit. I hate when establishments think I don't know what I'm ordering and give me a bait and switch just to get me out the door. Made me mad that I gave them a good tip too as I usually do. Have yet to go back as I'm still upset. Read more
I love their Vietnamese coffee. My boyfriend loves their Bahn Mi sandwiches. Today I tried an entree dish with fried rice, chow... fun and BBQ pork. It was really good and a really nice portion! I added a little soy sauce for taste and that was about it. Theyalso have a new updated menu! It's much easier to understand and helps out when ordering. I think I'll try a Pho Bowl next time. This is the best place ever. Food is incredible. Served deli style, I always get a tofu sandwich and a small side of noodles,... for under seven dollars. Same family has worked behind the counter for the ten years I've been coming here. Love love love. Read more
Ordered BBQ chicken Bahn mi, egg roll, and teriyaki chicken skewer. Everything was tasty and seemed fresh, but I wonder about... it's cleanliness. Just as my food was being prepared, a woman working at the counter, and who also works in the kitchen, wassneezing! She sneezed three times. I'd already paid for my food, and was very hungry. I hoped it would be OK, but within 2hours, I was vomiting, had diarrhea, and have been fighting flu like symptoms for over 10 days. This isn't the first time I'vehad a similar experience here, but I thought it might have been caused by other things. This has happened too many times, and asmuch as I like the people who own Cam Huong, I can't risk my health. As well, I recently walked past here; and the gates totheir alley were open, I noticed that the back alley of the restaurant is absolutely filthy. All of these things make me wonderabout the overall cleanliness and hygiene practices of this operation. Read more
