BEWARE - the owner of this establishment is the rudest individual I have ever encountered. We received a Gift Certificate for... this place and decided to try it out since my wife has a gluten sensitivity. When we ordered he basically said "Talk to me"instead of the normal "Can I help you" and then told us it would be a 40 minute wait due to other people ahead of us (there wereonly 2 other customers in the place at that time). We were not in a hurry so we decided to sit and wait. After waiting at least30 minutes, he basically yelled over to us "Are you guys going to just stay here or do you want your order?" When we checkedout we gave him the certificate and he kept saying he could not get it to work and then told us it would be $27 for a salad andthe small pizza. We simply paid for it and left but I would never return or give a certificate for this place to anyone! Read more
I ordered gluten free dairy free cupcakes for a friend’s 50th birthday and she absolutely loved them! The vanilla cake was... soft and delicious, and the chocolate buttercream was out of this world… silky, piped beautifully, and decadent. My wife and I had great expectations for this place. We drove from afar as a way to celebrate Mother’s Day on a Saturday since... it doesn’t open on Sundays—my wife only eats GF and DF because of digestion problems. In the end, we were a bitdisappointed. The restaurant has a cafe setup with a small space for dining in and seating, which we understand that how it wasidealized. The key points for a three-star review were: • Menu: in the day of our visit, some items were not available andthat lowered our expectations especially. The sweets were an exception with a lot of great choices. • Service: there was onlyone person working that day, and unfortunately, that person had to do everything, from cooking to take orders in. My best friends birthday is Christmas Eve and she is gluten free girl . I come to find out gluten free baked goods like a... birthday cake are hard to find even at bakeries like Giant eagle . I googled gluten free bakeries and Cafe Chocolade came Upjust 2 miles from my home so I got online and was overwhelmed by the custom orders you can do gluten free egg free , vegan youname it so I took a chance and Beyond greatful I did it was beautiful !!! And according to my best friend the best gluten freecake ever. As a person with celiac disease and also somewhat lactose intolerant, I’ve never had an easy time going out to eat. However,... this place made me feel like a “normal” person again, able to order anything on the menu, and not have to ask multiplequestions to ensure I won’t get sick. Cafe Chocolade & Chef Jim are the best thing that has happened in the Robinson Twp area for those of us with food sensitivities!... I have been getting a variety of foods (lunches, dinners, desserts, pastas) from Chef Jim for the past 2 years- sometimesweekly, always at least monthly. Let me say this is THE BEST FOOD EVER! - AND most of the options are Allergen Free - DF, GF,Soy Free, Egg Free, Nut Free, etc. Everything is labeled perfectly so there is no confusion regarding what you are ordering. AndI have never needed to add even a pinch of salt or pepper! The FLAVOR of everything I have ever eaten is JUST PERFECT:) I ordermultiple items for pickup so I have food (& desserts!) for the week. Menu items vary each week based on the ingredients Chefobtains. I look for the menu email each week to see what yumminess is waiting for me that week! Clean fresh foods, cookedperfectly every time.
