We just finished a meal at this restaurant, very disappointed, we waited over a hour for our food to come out of th kitchen! We... had two little children with us and there was no consideration as to the length of time they had to wait, had they mentionedprior to seating us we probably would never have eaten there. Once the food came out it was nothing to speak of. They offeredus a free round of drinks( 2beers) big deal, but after an hour and a half no one even felt like staying any longer we hadenough!! Taco Tuesday was a good deal. The staff was really friendly and the drinks were good.. most importantly , the food was fire!... Also the sanitation was thorough, one of the bus boys was very diligent and provided great service. Our waitress was also veryattentive. Great place! Read more
My girlfriend and I came up to Nyack for a street fair. We are both trying to watch the high density carbs, so we were not... going near the street food! After checking out the options along the main thoroughfare in Nyack we settled on Casa del Sol andwere glad we did. My girlfriend had the taco salad - they were happy to sub shrimp onto it for her (pescetarian) for $2 extra. I had the adobo skirt steak - subbed potatoes for black beans. While the prices were a little higher than they should be, wewere both very satisfied with the flavor of the meals. Portion sizes were adequate for lunch and service was quick andattentive. Went on a taco tuesday night and the quality disappointed a little bit. The tacos are served on flour tortillas, and some of... them e.g. roasted pork were a bit too watery, spilling a lot of water as I bit into it. Service was not bad but not great,neither, and the trick of selling guacamole at "market price" is a bit sketchy. Overall not bad, not good. Didn't quite hit thespot but I wish them the best ???? We had quite a good time at Casa del Sol on our recent trip to Nyack. The service was impeccable (thanks Chanel!) the margaritas... were strong and decent. The fried spinach as a side dish was something I hadn't had before and was surprisingly delcious, if alittle oily. I had the "naked burrito" aka a burrito bowl with pork and it was a total show stopper - out of this world. Wehad asked for the guacamole extra spicy and we were not disappointed - - fresh, delcious and spicy! We will definetly be backand if you want Mexican in Nyack, I hope you stop in too. Read more
We really liked Casa del Sol - not perfect but good enough for 5 stars. The chorizo-bacon meatball appetizer was very good,... especially the tasty crispy spinach. Little too much sauce though so the meat couldn't shine. I had the skirt steak and shortrib taco platter with fried plantains and Mexican street corn. All were very good - fresh tacos! - though the base corn musthave been sitting and not cooked to order. We'd recommend. Read more
Since moving to the Nyacks, I have searched far and wide for proper, crispy, gooey nachos with REAL CHEESE (DOWN WITH QUESO!... Fight me), and here they are, smack in the middle of the fair village of Nyack! I got them as take-out, and though I'd forgottento request no jalapeños, the gentleman informed me that take-out and delivery nachos are served sort of deconstructed, withguac, crema, and jalapeños in separate packets for you to top them with when you're ready to eat them. I could not be happier!The ambience seemed fun, there's even a proper modern jukebox (haven't seen one of those in a while!). Can't wait to eat therewith friends! Read more
