Reviews for Taro's Fish in Toronto, ON
Small local seafood market with top quality fish perfect for sushi making. We?ll usually select a few varieties and have the... fish cut sashimi style, bring home and make our own poke bowls. They also carry other sushi making ingredients and importedJapanese goodies. Read more
Bought some sushi grade salmon, tuna, tobiko, etc. to make homemade sushi. The quality of the fish is very good. They will also... slice up the fish into ready to eat sushi, if you ask. We also tried their takeout platters - they're pricier than most sushiplaces, but the quality is better and tastes better. Read more

I have been a regular to this supermarket when it comes to purchasing authentic seafood and they have an awesome selection too.... They do also have frozen sections but I prefer their freshness and quality. They do have ready made meals available but on thisoccasion, I picked up 3 filets of saba (mackerel) , a portion of salmon sashimi, and a packet of 6 scallops. After picking yourpackets of seafood, the staff will scan them for you. They will slice it up, repack it for you and they will add wasabi, soyasauce and green onions on the side. They provide you with an electronic beeper to notify you when your seafood has been preparedfor you. The saba doesn't have a fishy smell and the green onions are a great combination with it. The salmon sashimi is verysweet and is an option to add soya sauce to give it that salty, sweet taste. As for the scallops, they are delicious on theirown but when pair with any rice this adds a different level of umami. On the whole a friendly place with great seafood and willtry other things on my next visit. Visited the store again today and bought 3 fillets of saba, 1 pack of 6 scallops, 1 pack ofsalmon and 1 pack of hamachi. I decided to hand cut the fillets myself. The scallops as usual was like eating sweet jelly andthe hamachi as well as the salmon was equally soft, sweet and juicy. It all came up to around $85. Considering if you went to arestaurant it would cost quadruple the price, so on the whole reasonably priced food. Read more

Great place for fresh seafood specializing in Japanese cuisine. You can buy the fish and ask them to cut it up. Salmon was very... fresh, same with the scallops. It was busy but only waited less than 10 minutes for them to have our purchase all cut up. Staffwas very helpful and friendly? Read more
My favorite place to go to pick up great quality sashimi. My only complaint is that they are mostly open when I'm working and... closed when I'm free.. I guess it's also a pro, because I'd probably be broke if I went here too much. I love making a chirashibowl with a bunch of the good stuff: salmon, toro, ikura, amaebi, hotate, ika, uni.. Mmm.
