This review is LONG but I can't say enough good things about Small Kitchen Big Taste. From my initial inquiry through to the... wedding day, Karen and her team were kind, knowledgeable, and hands-on, and the food was absolutely delicious. The venue Iselected required whichever caterer I chose to cook outdoors in a tent, so I wanted to work with someone from their preferredlist who had cooked there before. I was immediately drawn to SKBT after seeing their food photos on Instagram. They were theonly vendor I found who highlighted photos of their food, which was important to me since good food was my #1 priority. Myinitial impression of SKBT was correct! Every single dish they put out was phenomenal and we received only positive feedbackfrom every person at the wedding. It's important to note that I have gluten intolerance and tasked SKBT with a fullygluten-free menu. My skeptical dad joined us for the tasting and was beside himself that the menu was fully gluten-free. Heagreed that it's refreshing to have "wedding food", specifically appetizers, that isn't all deep-fried! We also had 4 vegans atthe wedding and they were all thrilled about their custom plates. One vegan friend specifically said, "I'm used to eatingwhatever slop I'm given at weddings, so I am grateful for the delicious plate they made for me." We had THE BEST weddingplanner, so we didn't necessarily need Karen to coordinate the entire event, but she jumped in and helped us with everythingrelated to the rental equipment. This took a massive weight off my shoulders, as our venue was DIY, and selecting the correctrentals for both the caterer and the general event gave me a ton of anxiety. She worked closely with my wedding planner and thetwo of them were in lockstep, along with the rental company, and everything went smoothly on the day of the wedding. There aren?t enough amazing words I could write to describe Small Kitchen Big Taste. I recently got married and had Karen and... her team cater my wedding. Karen and her team made the process of wedding planning so much easier on my end - they helpedimmensely with rentals, cake, liquor, layout of the day, and set up and break down on the day of. Not to mention, the food isTO. DIE. FOR. At our tasting, I was completely blown away by the flavors, the presentation, the details, and the effort put intoevery meal, appetizer, and dessert. I?ve never had better wedding food and my guests were RAVING about it for months later! Herstaff were absolutely incredible. Professional, kind, hard-freaking-working, efficient, and detail-oriented. They brought myhusband and I our own plate of passed appetizers when I was inside bustling my dress, boxed up any of our dinner we didn?t eatfor us, and checked in at all the right times to make sure we didn?t need anything. Hiring SKBT was the best decision we could have made for our backyard wedding. Karen was such a pleasure to work with right from... the beginning!! She really made the planning process easy and enjoyable- she was creative, thoughtful, and had wonderfulsuggestions about how to tailor our menu to be exactly what we wanted. From appetizers to dinner, every dish was perfectly made.She was able to acomodate both gluten free and vegan guests, and the quality and freshness of the food couldn't be beat. Thestaff were so personable, friendly and so thoughtful. I haven?t had people stop raving about their food and servers since! Allaspects they brought to our wedding were above and beyond and truly made our day so magical! It was better than I ever couldhave imagined, and HIGHLY recommend them to everyone!! My daughter chose them to cater her backyard wedding. I spoke and emailed with Karin, the owner. She was wonderful to work with.... The food was nothing short of AMAZING. Hiring SKBT was one of the best decisions that we made for our wedding! I talked to Karen, the owner, and from our first... conversation, she knew instinctively what I was looking for, and brought it to life beautifully on our wedding day. Mind you, Idon't always know how to articulate what I want, but she was able to conjure exactly what I envisioned. Our guests are stillraving about how perfectly cooked every bite was, from the appetizers to the desserts! My now-husband is also a vegetarian, andunlike many of the other caterers we talked to, this was not an obstacle for SKBT because Karen and her team have a very "cando" attitude. In fact, many of our dedicated carnivores were as impressed with the vegetarian options as the rest. Anything Iasked for, SKBT did it! To top it off, I asked if they could serve pisco sour (a peruvian mixed drink) to celebrate my homecountry, and Karen didn't even think twice about doing it! It was so yummy, and even my super-picky peruvian family loved it.Karen was also great about communicating throughout the planning process. On top of all of this, when it came to the weddingday itself, SKBT were amazing when it came to the logistics. Setting up, and taking down the tables and table settings was quickand efficient, and their servers were attentive and always on the ball. The logistics were a major source of stress for us, butthey turned out to be a total non-issue. Shout out to head chef Tess, and chef Jules, who made our breath taking weddingcake. Just because we are in the middle of a pandemic don?t think you can?t have a wedding or small gathering. We live in Huntington... Beach, CA. We contacted Karen and explained our vision of a Bavarian Octoberfest themed wedding and reception! Karen and herstaff nailed it! We do not have a enough great things to say! They ensured everyone was served all the while maintainingprotocol with PPE and distancing. Right down to serving the kids grilled cheese! Karen catered our wedding of about 50 guests this summer and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Karen and her staff... were extremely professional and pleasant.
