Booked through an intermediary site, received a phone call from a very rude and arrogant lady (owner) who tried to charge us... more money. What they probably do is list the price on various sites for lower then call you to extort more money, a total scam.The worst part was her attitude on the phone, telling my wife she knew nothing about running a business. Best Auberge ever! We spent 2 nights in a fabulous place, near the beautiful lake Massawippi and it?s mountains. Staff gives... everything to satisfy all our needs. Breakfast and lunch were delicious with many choices. We still plan our next vacations atthe Auberge la Chocolatiere. Read more

The hotel extra charged us because we had a view on the lake, and this without warning us and without our consent. We... unfortunately noticed the extra amount after that we paid, and came back to find a solution at the hotel. The answer wasbasically : "you already paid, it's too late." Seems like a tourist trap, if you book there please ask for the details of thepayment at the check in to avoid the same problem than us. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. It is 100% family owned and operated, and this family goes that extra mile to... ensure their guests are happy. The food in the restaurant/bar is great, service is wonderful and the location and cleanliness ofthe property are impeccable. You get a wonderful breakfast that is included in the cost of the room, and there is local madechocolate and maple syrup in the boutique. We made North Hatley a stop in between Montreal and Quebec, and we are so glad wedid. The area is a utopia. The view from our room is gorgeous. Very disappointed in the whole experience. To start, we had made a reservation for 10 people inside dining. We arrived 5... minutes early and when the waiter started to show us to an outside, street side table we informed him that we had asked for aninside table and outside would be unacceptable. They Sid they had given our table to another 10 people party. At that point,they moved the other group! So we are seated after multiple angry stares from the other group. The area is only marginallyair conditioned and exterior doors are open for some reason. The dining area is infested with flies!. We complain and arehanded fly shatters! Are you kidding me? Food was ordered and when delivered was marginal at best. Had to ask several timesfor condiments that arrived when the meal was over. Never again! Read more

I ordered an omelette that was not well cooked, when I asked the owner, who served the meals that day, that I wanted the... omelette well cooked he changed attitude, ignored us, even sent another waiter with the omelette when it was finally ready. As acustomer I felt at fault as if it was an insult to ask have asked for my omelette not to be gooey. We did not like theexperience and will not come back. Besides that the menu is kinda pricey for what they serve. I agree that the owner seemsarrogant by experience and by the way he replies to customers on the reviews. Great place to stay in North Hatley, QC. The owners and family do a great job of maintaining the building and grounds. Clean,... quiet and in a lovely setting?. We were treated to a fabulous home cooked breakfast each morning and treated like honoredguests! I highly recommend this place! Read more
