Reviews for The Grit Counter - North Charleston in North Charleston, SC
DELICIOUS grits dishes! We\'ve been going to the one in Mt. Pleasant for some time now; so glad they opened this one in North... Charleston. This restaurant is bigger with plenty of tables inside and outside. The patio seating area is huge. This one alsohas more items on their menu than the one in Mt. Pleasant. It gets very crowded here on weekends, so plan ahead. There arelimited parking spaces.\n\nOur favorites here are: the BLT Bowl, the Harvest Bowl, and the Chicken & Waffles. Every dish theyserve is a large portion. I do, however, want to point out that the bacon on the BLT Bowl (delicious chunks of pork belly) herein the North Charleston store is not as lean as the pork belly served at their Mt. Pleasant store. Not sure why that is so. Iprefer the leaner meat, but to each his own.\n\nOne last thing...my absolute fave at both Mt. Pleasant and North Charlestonstores is their Sweet Peach Tea (they have unsweet, too). Oh, so good! Read more
Our first time was during the visit to North Charleston yesterday. The minute you walk into the front door, the smell of food... open your sense, once you get to the order counter you also can see the simi open kitchen that eyes can not say no. The foodwere delicious and well portion. OMG...Southern cooking to its best. A must try if you are in the area. Highly recommended! Read more

Totally loved it. Looking forward to going back again. I loved the atmosphere of the inside of the restaurant and the seating... outside. You can build your own bowl or you can order their specialties. They also have items besides grits. You can get ahamburger or a seafood basket and you can get french fries. The prices were not bad they were pretty good. They do howevercharge 3.5% more if you use a credit card. I really enjoyed this place. Read more
This place has been on my to try list since I found out about it a few weeks ago. Pay attention as you\'re driving because we... missed the entrance (entrance is shared with the hotel next door and does not have it\'s own entrance from Montague). We orderedour food to go and the portions were large and the food super filling (temperature was still hot and texture perfect which ishard to do with takeout sometimes). We got the Blt and traditional shrimp and grits! I can\'t wait to go back and try othervarieties. Read more
We are huge fans of Grace and Grit in Mt. Pleasant and this is our first time trying The Grit Counter. As expected, the food... here is excellent! We placed an order over the phone and picked up our food. The website\'s online order system still has theMt. Pleasant address on it, so I\'m not sure if that works for the North Charleston location.\n\nWe got the Shrimp and Gritsbowl and the BLT bowl. Both were fantastic! The Shrimp and Grits bowl is amazing, as expected. The grits were so creamy and theshrimp they used were so fresh. The BLT bowl was a very pleasant surprise and quite an explosion of flavors and textures. Can\'twait to try the other items on the menu! Read more
This. Is. What. You. Want!\nI arrived 10 minutes early to be greeted by patrons waiting at the door for them to open, which in... my experience, is usually a good sign. Upon entering and looking around I noticed the environment was clean and the setup wasvery pleasing, comfy. Moments later people started to order and shortly thereafter food started coming out. THIS IS GOURMETBREAKFAST! Calling it anything less would be an insult. The ingredients and combinations of foods are a thing of beauty, a workof art. Very rarely can you read a menu and imagine what the food looks like and it actually turns out that way... well let metell you, they were spot on. As I stood there and watched other people get their food, each dish looked just as good as the lastand when I received my food a feeling of euphoria overcame my body. Who knew that nestled right on Montague avenue was a placeof such decadence. I\'ve only been once and I can assure you that I\'ll be going again. You don\'t have to take my word for it,I beg you to see for yourself. Read more
