Still our favorite Italian place! The owner, Jennifer, makes the most incredibly delicious soups! My favorites on the... menu: APPETIZERS: Meatball Sliders (great flavor -- simple but so very tasty); Bruschetta; Caprese Salad; & Calamari Fritti(always perfectly cooked crispy on the outside & tender on the inside) ENTRÉES: Sausage & Pepper Penne; Chicken Ciara;Lasagna SOUPS: Doesn't matter what it is -- they're all excellent! DESSERT: Nutella Ravioli Great staff & ambience;reasonable prices, too. One last thing: the sign on the door says they're open until 9:00PM, but do get there by 8:00PM as we'vewatched them turn people away (a few times now) if they arrive after 8PM. So just get there by 8 -- totally worth it! Read more

First off the hospitality is A1. Our server was very nice and attentive. The ambience is really nice and warm. The Italian music... was nice. Now let's get to the food. It was just okay. The calamari didn't have much of a taste. Thank goodness for the marinarasauce that accompanied it. My spaghetti bolognese with meatballs was very bland and not seasoned at all. I added a little saltand it didn't help much. My husband did enjoy his veal and salad. The soup and bread were really good. We will probably returnone day but we're definitely not in a hurry. Food over priced and was subpar. The Roman chicken tasted like a cigar and was completely inedible. The eggplant was over... cooked and bland. The cherry on top was being charged a convenience fee for using a card!!! Never ever been charged that at anyrestaurant ever!!! Read more

From the beautiful music ???? (Italian lyrics on many) to the couples from NY and NJ at the next table over (I love the accents)... ? you know you are getting the best of Italian food in Charleston. ???????? The wine was delicious, bread was fresh and hot withEVOO and balsamic on each table, and the wait staff were so attentive (no desire goes unfulfilled). Head here for pasta, freshand homemade (or as close as a restaurant can get) soup, and ambience. Send up a toast ???? and prayer for safe travels ?? forme while you are at it! Read more

It's been 12 years searching for decent Italian food that was found in every shopping center in the North East. On my maiden... voyage to Amici yesterday I finally felt like I was back home. Having grown up not far from Billy Joel's Italian restaurantentering Amici's front door was a verse from the song. Red checkered table cloths a bottle of olive oil on the table, friendlystaff, and a relaxed vibe set the stage for an enjoyable dining experience. The menu is limited but hits all the high points.veal, chicken, shrimp/clams. red sauce and brown sauce to satisfy any palete. The prices are reasonable and given that entreescome with soup or salad Amici's offers great value. I have long stopped complaining about restaurants no longer making a sidesalad as part of the meal. Now a salad has become an $11 appetizer! amici's should be congratulated for not caving to the trendof giving less and charging more. My other pet peeve with restaurants is their wine pricing. All those North East family-runplaces typically had an affordable house wine, dare I date myself and say half carafe of wine? Again Kudos to Amici for buckingthe trend. There is a reason you open at 4 pm and by 4:30 parking is hard to find. We were the first ones in the door at 4 pm,as a matter of fact, we waited in the parking lot for a half-hour. We found this place through online reviews, and it was worththe wait. Gina waited on us and Mario came over to the table and chat. speaking with Mario for three seconds I knew we had aconnection and sure enough, both of us came from Long Island NY. As to the food, I had the veal, Amici. The veal was fried notsauteed for all-you healthy nuts served with a brown sauce over what tasted like homemade pasta. The dish was tasty and themushroom was fresh, not canned. My wife had shrimp with spaghetti and spinach, again the pasta tasted fresh and was a niceportion. Great food, reasonable prices, friendly efficient service means it will be hard to get a tabl Read more
