Service: - Made a reservation and was seated right away. Server was kind and attentive. Food: - Never forget chicken - I... actually said "wow" out loud. This dish was packed with SO much flavor, the chicken was cooked perfectly, and the presentationwas also excellent. Definitely a must-try - Yang Chow fried rice - I've had better before.. not much to talk about - Crispyshrimp with lemon sauce - shrimp was slightly overcooked. Wish the lemon sauce had a little more flavor so that it could burstthrough the large deep-fried shrimp but it was definitely good - Sze chuan wonton - definitely the most underwhelming dish ofthe night. The chili oil really lacked in flavor that it almost tasted bland. Ambiance: - Interior is indeed beautiful and therestaurant is quite spacious. Inside is also very clean and the tables are spread out reasonably. The food was overall closerto a 3.5 out of 5. I would come back to try some other dishes. Read more

Great decorations and decent environment. Lamb chops and egg-yolk shrimps are two of my favorites. As for appetizer, I highly... recommend yam with blueberry sauce and spicy lamb tripe. Nice place for friends and family gathering! Read more

It?s really nice to see a nice Chinese restaurant for a change. Things are a little pricey but you?re paying for the atmosphere,... better service and pretty presentations of dishes. I would say that I?ve brought some friends from China and they don?t think alot of the things are authentic but that being said it still tastes good. I don?t believe every Chinese restaurant has to beauthentic and hole in the wall to be considered good. I think it?s a really nice place to have a nice little gathering for aspecial occasion. Really popular, and definitely a high end Chinese restaurant in the area. Needed a reservation for group of 9 in the VIP room... with street view. Service was first class. Both Peking duck and crispy shrimp are must try dishes, with great presentation andtaste. Noodle was appraised well. A good choice for your distinguished guests out of town for sure. For other popular dishes, you can find elsewhere with more value. Read more

Really nice and modern interior, different from what you?d expect from a Chinese restaurant. Servers were really nice and polite... and wished us a happy Chinese New Year. The mung bean jelly and cold noodles were amazing and really authentic, the sauces itwas in could make for such a nice dipping sauce. Each dish was really good but a bit expensive compared to other places whereyou could get similar things (guess we pay for the aesthetics and experience). Wish the dishes at least came with a bowl of riceas we had to order that separately. Be prepared for a lot of oil and salt and spice! Read more

Amazing lunch. The service was fantastic. The lemon shrimp, half Peking duck, the cucumber salad, and the soup dumplings were... absolutely delicious! Better than Ding Tai Fung. I would absolutely go back anytime for a special occasion or to meet withfriends. I love the ambiance as well. Beautiful colors and textures. Read more

As a passionate foodie, I can say that Lao Sze Chuan is the best Chinese restaurant in DMV! It is good for any business dinner,... family dinner or a welcome dinner for friends coming from far away. The restaurant looks elegant, romantic, and verycomfortable. The waiters are considerate and well-trained. The dishes, including dinning wares, are well setting, like beautifulartworks. They offer a variety of food to satisfy both Chinese and non-Chinese customers well. The Peking duck is one of thehighlights of Lao Sze Chuan. Its crispy skin with brown sugar is a must try you shouldn?t miss. The beef with gold soup, friedshrimp with sandy egg yolk, pear-shape fried red bean paste with sticky rich cake are my favorites. I have visited theirrestaurant for 8times during the past three months. It has never disappointed me. Read more

To be quite honest, this place just wasn?t it for me. My favorite thing was the appetizer bean jelly, but I?ve had the exact... same thing (same taste and ingredients) elsewhere with exact same portion size for half the price. The duck was disappointing. The pancake was way too thick and the skin wasn?t very crispy. The duck came out cold (not sure if it was supposed to be likethat) which made it not taste as good. The duck meat felt rubbery. Also, the skin tasted like just pure fat and no other flavor. It?s supposed to have taste to it because roasted duck gets glazed with sauce during the cooking process. Twice cooked pork wasthe worst one. Just regular thinly sliced super fatty pork belly (very little of it as well) with tofu. It?s more of a stir-frythan twice cooked. The flavor was also bland. Not a dish worth ~$27. It?s just a regular Chinese household dish made worse. The fish soup was also just?.bad. It didn?t come with much besides the sour vegetable and fish. Ginger taste was too strongwhich made the soup taste like sour ginger. There was no depth to that soup. Two stars for friendly service, but honestly onestar for the food. Would not come again. It was a ridiculous price for super sub par Chinese food. Their entrées also don?tcome with rice?.???? Read more
