I visited Pinckney's Home Cooking Restaurant and enjoyed a DELICIOUS late lunch. They have a surprising range of choices on... their Menu. Everything was tempting and they have a buffet as well. I ordered ribs and 2 sides. I didn't have to ask for aknife, the rib meat just fell off the bone! I had Hoppin' John, "Mac & cheese" and sweet cornbread. There was plenty left totake some home. I ordered to go, it was packed in there due to people that dine inside have to come over that side to pay. It gets too congested... in there! The workers seem ok but you can tell the regular customers because they think it's ok to tell the workers to add stuffto their meal or to remake stuff. Not right because it takes away from the other paying customers. The head chef & owner seemslike a good guy and he actually made my to go plate because they were so busy. Anyway, I ordered pigfeet, didn't get muchbecause they were running out. They were good the very small portion I did get. The fried chicken was ok, the meatloaf was ok,the collard greens were ok, the Mac and cheese was just ok. The broccoli casserole & cornbread was pretty good. My only realcomplaint was they actually put sugar in their dressing!!! Who does that and why??! I prefer and only deal with savory dressing.I was very disappointed! I have been here 4 times. Food has always been great. The customer service on the other hand, terrible. Seems to get worse every... time. Waiters will walk by you, look dead at you, but if your not their table you can sit there with an empty cup for over 20minutes. By no means am I trying to downgrade the place, just hope the boss man sees this and makes some changes. Read more

Fantastic local home cooking / soul food with a touch of Creole seasoning. The staff are very friendly, and the food was... fantastic. I showed up for a weekday lunch "buffet". You choose two meats, three sides, and a drink. I had the fried chicken,the fried pork chop, the lima beans, collards, and cornbread dressing with gravy. The gravy and breading on the chicken and porkwere seasoned with a touch of Creole. There was the taste of cumin and cayenne in there. Very delicious, but if you'resensitive to salt, you may not appreciate it. The other sides were outstanding especially the dressing and collards. The limabeans were good, but the collards were just amazing. They had some massive cakes in the corner, but I was too stuffed toconsider a slice this time. Lastly, the sweet tea. They take this VERY seriously. The lady pouring tea was doing a longdistance pour from the spigot like one would do with wine. It was very good, but wow! Very serious about that tea! This is a real country cooking restaurant. Just try their collards. The very best collards and pot liquor. Fried chicken like... fried chicken is supposed to by. Crust, crust and crust that is no doubt off the chart. Listen just drop in hungry. I have NEVERbeen blown away like this. I have never had shrimp casserole until today. It was the first to go on my plate. Excellent food,excellent price and an excellent staff. When it comes to eating and enjoyment I would choose this over Ruth Chris. Thank you forone great experience. The only advertisement that is needed is for people to eat there. Once you do you?re gonna tell yourfriends about it.
