UPDATE: Came & had the chicken dinner with greens, sweet potato biscuits, & ziti with cheese. My first experience was phenomenal... but I assume perhaps that’s because the manager was there. This time, not so great; therefore, I lowered my review. my chickendinner came with extremely deep fried chicken, greens that had sugar in them, and they missed my biscuits. Overall, the platewas extremely subpar —that includes presentation & taste—and maybe that’s because I had such high expectations. I’llgive them another try because my server was cool & like I said my first experience was cool but ima need that every time. Thanksguys. FIRST REVIEW: From the time I walked in the door, nothing but absolute great service. I came in today around 7pm, so theywere closing in an hour but they didn’t treat us like they were closing which is amazing. The gentleman at the host stand,Vincenté greeted us with nothing but kindness. We asked for the bar and got just that. The bartender, Avonlea not only made usfantastic drinks but made certain that we were always taken care of. Lastly, the food…ON POINT!! I got the pork chop withgreens and cornbread stuffing & it was fabulous. So moist, juicy, just melts in your mouth. My partner got the turkey burger andwas just as satisfied. Experience was phenomenal. This was the first place that I have ever cleaned my plate, literally your could not tell what was on... the plate. The chefs and managers were awesome friendly and made me free at home. Most defiantly will be back! Read more
My father is from Charleston, SC so my family and I are very picky about our Shrimp and Grits. So I will have to say that... Southern Eats Shrimp and Grits would actually have me going back for more. I could only eat half of my portion and excited toear the leftovers. Great location + great service + great food = A repeat customer. I also love the fact that they arelocally, family and veteran owned. A must try when visiting Norfolk Downtown area. Read more
An enjoyable time on each occasion! The service is always friendly and attentive. They can help cater to any time restrictions... you may have due to concerts or other events. Definitely only for those who were “born and raised Southern”. While I do love some good sautéed green beans, I’m not a... big fan of pimento cheese, the cheese used in their grilled cheese dish, and how spongy their “Mom’s Meatloaf’ is. Chickentenders basket is definitely your safest bet. Raspberry tea is definitely on the tart side, but I love sour drinks so maybeI’m a LITTLE biased. Read more
