Super friendly, fast and knowledgeable service at Commune. Started filling up at 9:30 on a Saturday, so be prepared to wait if... you aren?t early. Pickle board was huge and amazing, crispy potato bowl (plus brisket!) was amazingly filling. Highly recommend. Read more
I actually really love Commune, but mostly for the vibes, staff, and farm-to-table set up. A good spot to hang out and do work... with some coffee and nibbles. They have GREAT customer service too. But the food itself is alright at best. Some things aregood: their cocktails, their brisket, their eggs. But otherwise, there's a distinct lack of flavor. I got one of the bowls lasttime and it was really disappointing (chicken was so bland, unseasoned rice -- but the veggies and pesto were good!). My husbandhad a burger that was very dry. My gin cocktail was amazing though!! So just be concious of what you order and don't be afraidto be specific about what you want. Ask the staff their opinions too! Commune is a staple in downtown Norfolk but because I loveit, I gotta be honest. Read more
We ordered the crop classic and the burchfield. Both were extremely good and reasonably priced!! This was definte some of the... best food I've had in Norfolk! Plus the building is gorgeous! They have a rotating art gallery and tons of natural light andplants. Definitely worth the visit! Read more
Oh my God this was so good! I had the double 109 burger and some of the seaside hummus, wife had the fried chicken salad and... some chips. Both were out of this world! Flavors just pop, bright brilliant and savory all around! Ask for a toasted bun withthe fried chicken salad and you will be in heaven! Great staff great chef and real nice open environment right in the middle ofthe neon district! Read more

I had heard about this place and their hyper-local sourcing of ingredients. But it was kind of a bummer. I had their equivalent... of a French dip and it was ok, but the only real flavor I was getting out of it was salt. The other diner I was with had afried chicken sandwich that seemed to me was over cooked. It was very dark like it had been fried too long and had a slightlybitter burned flavor. It wasn't horrible, the wait staff were very nice. But I probably wouldn't go back. Read more
