When you walk into a Jamaican restaurant and you are greeted by a Jamaican you expect the food to be the real deal. This... experience was far from the real deal. We ordered the curry goat and rice and peas. Cons. 1. The rice did not appear fresh thediscoloration suggested it was reheated and not prepared same day. The rice was not long grain, it was broken and very choppy tosuggest the quality of the rice was poor. 2. There was no coconut milk, hence no taste. No Thyme. No Scallion. No pimento nopepper. 3. The curry goat, though tender, lacked taste. It would suggest the meat wasn't seasoned and marinated long enough forthe season to soak in. 4. The cabbage was overcooked and also lacked flavour. 5. The plantain was overly ripe and so soaked uptoo much oil. Pros. 1. Excellent customer service 2. Drinks were good 3. Big fan of their spicy beef and curry chicken patties. Can make a meal from just 2 patties for under $5. Had their jerk chicken... lunch special and it was delicious @ only $8.99. Really enjoyed my meal and experience at Lyon?s. Ordered a oxtail dinner plate. Total was $17 and some change. The portion was... large and the oxtails were huge. The food was delicious, but i do agree with another reviewer... the cabbage could use a littlemore seasoning but that?s my only critique. The cashier was super friendly and I was in and out quick. All in all a greatexperience. Looking forward to going back and trying more. Update: The Covid delayed my second visit but i finally made it backand the food and experience was just as delicious as the first. Glad to have found this gem.
