I always love the variety. I don't think I've had anything that tasted bad. The cooked cabbage and meatloaf are my favorite!
The staff is super! The food was horrible. Some of the food was undercooked for example, the chicken livers were still... bleeding. The fried chicken tasted like the oil was bad. The salad bar was actually decent. The 2 stars come from the staff!It's just completely outdated. I hope the food that comes straight from the kitchen is better than what is on the buffet. Came here for a late lunch. No line was able to get a table and got food right away. Pulled pork was dry and tasteless even... after putting BBQ sauce on it. The other food was good. Meatloaf was better than I have had in the past. Macaroni andcheese was pretty good too. Waitress kept us filled on drinks and cleared plates in a timely manner. Read more
First of all? overpriced! The food was mediocre. The only thing truly eatable was the salad from the salad bar. The baked potato... was over cooked and not even warm. My kids said their pizza had a weird taste? it?s because it was raw. This is the last time wewill go after having eat there about once every few years in the past 5 years. Nothing in the quality of the food is anydifferent than the last time. But we moved closer and I wanted to go. A costly mistake of $54 and change. I am so glad we found this place today. I have not seen a Western Steer in 20+ years. There was 2 of them in my hometown of... Morganton but they have been go for years. My husband and I both ordered the buffet. His main items were the smoked chicken,green beans, broccoli, and salad bar. My main items were the Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, fried okra, rolls, and saladbar. I have to say this is probably the best meal I have eaten out in a long time. When we left we felt full, happy, andcomforted. The food was cooked amazingly with the right seasonings and was absolutely full of flavor. I was not expecting thefood to be that good and it knocked my socks off. I HIGHLY recommend this place and will definitely make the trip back to Newtonto eat there again! Read more

I have lots of memories here. Been coming here for 30 years. American comfort food, buffet style. The buffet is consistent, it... does lack variety but it?s good. Breakfast buffet on weekends. Waitresses are very nice and you don?t run out of drink. Veryprompt. I recommend Western Steer. Edit; we just had lunch here today, and it was excellent. We had Billie as our waitress andshe was very prompt. We had fresh drinks before we had to ask. Great service. Just had lunch here today and we got the bestwaitress once again ?Billie?. Staff was very friendly. The food was good, but almost everything was HB based. For $15, they could have thrown in a few sirloin... tips or steak on the buffet. Because of that it was really just ok i my opinion. For the price and more choices, I'll have tostick with Golden Corral. Sorry Western Steer. Read more
