Attentive service and fabulous food. I got a blue burger that I requested black and blue. It was very rare and delicious.... Someone else got the scallops. He enjoyed it but it was a rather small portion. I had a glass of wine ($17). They offer a fewwines by the glass but most are by the bottle. They also have full bar options with some pretty unique/ artsy mixed drinkoptions. It was a chilly night and we decided to eat indoors as opposed to the patio that has a pretty bay view. Unfortunatelywe didn't feel like we were "at the beach". We chose the restaurant hoping to enjoy a beachy atmosphere. The interior space islike a long warehouse style with no windows except for at one end which is that patio. We couldn't really even see the open end.Next time I'd request patio dining and bundle up! For this type of establishment, the service was terrible. Our waiter for dinner didn't check up on us, dropped checks and... utensils off abruptly on the table, and forgets to refill water. The price was expected for this place, but the food was veryaverage. There are better choices on Balboa island. Read more

I'll be honest. For a restaurant that claims to be a rich visitor, this is weak. There is a lot of sauce in the dishes, although... they are made very creatively. The selection of groceries is simply amazing. That's why I'm giving you 4 stars, although ofcourse you can't compare this restaurant to regular street food. My daughter's birthday went well. We went to the Shorebird in Sedona, AZ and loved it so much that we wanted to come here again when we came to Newport! They have... some of the most delectable fish in their appetizers and main courses. It is a nice place that you can dress up for, and you canget a reasonably priced entree like a burger, or you can splurge on a nice dish like the Sea Bass. It's great for a group orcelebration! Shorebird is a great spot for a date night. The atmosphere is really nice (especially if you get a view of the marina). We... ordered a couple of local drafts, margaritas, oysters, sushi and the salmon filet. Hands down the food was amazing. I?m givingthis four stars because there needs to be a little bit of subjectivity when it comes to reviewing places. I had really felt thatthe service could have been a bit better. There was a couple sitting at a table in front of us that appeared to be receivingmuch better service than the rest of the patrons in the restaurant (including ourselves). When they were served their food, theserver waiting for them to take a bite of each dish to ensure it was to their liking. This server was also our server. They werealso checked on frequently, where at times it took some time for them to take notice and check on us or other patrons. I don?tknow where the bias derived from when it came to the service and the customers in which were very obviously receiving top notchservice in comparison to others - but, when I go somewhere, I?d like to think that service provided should be equal and similar.Other than that, everything was excellent!
