Very slow service, our waitress was new and not properly trained and not familiar with the menu. Chowder was luke warm,... saltiness were old and stale, she never asked our party (4) if we wanted ground pepper, meals arrived an hour after we wereseated. My scallops were cold but the potatoes and puree was warm. We inquired about rolls and butter and was told she did notthink they offered this. We skipped dessert and asked for coffee and was told it was not available BUT the rehearsal partyinside had a coffee station set up. The propane heaters were set up and when we asked to have them turned on, the server saidthey were not prepared for the cooler temperatures despite being mid September. For $298 for 4ppl is not absorbent but the lackof service, cold meals (scallops $38. Chowder $20) etc. The experience just seemed like a shame as the property is beautifulwith commanding views of the coastline and the restaurant dropped the ball. I think the management needs to either stick withbanquets or dining because last night, the staff could not accommodate both. We will not run back anytime soon. Read more

Ocean Cliff and the Safari Room are great venues. Real Newport vibe and great views of the Bay. Great staff and terrific food.... There for a wedding that was a delightful experience. Read more
What an amazing first time experience my husband and I had at the Safari room. We came for dinner on Saturday evening and loved... it so much we came back the next day for lunch. Everything from the first moment we walked in and every person that weinteracted with was a wonderful experience! The service was amazing the food was amazing!!! It will definitely be our favoriteLittle peace of heaven in Newport!!! My hope is to come and stay at that beautiful Hotel Ocean Cliff. It is definitely a mustto put on your next trip to Newport Rhode Island!!! Read more
The view of the water and sunset during our recent dinner at The Safari Room really made the night. We enjoyed a leisurely meal.... The food was good, as was the service. I overheard some other tables complain about things being slow, but this wasn’t ourexperience. We started our meal with a cheeseboard, and there was a particular cheese we both really loved. I got the name ofthe cheese from the server, but my search for it kept coming up empty. I emailed the restaurant, and within the day, I had aresponse that included a link to where I can purchase the cheese. To me, this speaks volumes to their customer service. Read more
Had lunch here to watch the beginning of the Newport to Bermuda race. Cheese board was delicious and all of our food was... amazing. My husband had the fish and chips, my friend had the lobster roll and I had the burger with some delicious sauce. Allwith amazing hand cut fries. My wine was perfect too. Views are spectacular! I’ve never been to a restaurant with such a lack of ambience. You could literally hear a pin drop. They didn’t know how to... serve a table, like there was spilled food and not enough utensils and not a single napkin. Plus the staff was very inattentive.I understand they had a wedding next door, but it was no excuse, just close the restaurant for the wedding next time. The view is amazing! Smelled a little musty when we came in to the restaurant, could be the outdated carpeting. The menu is very... simple (which is a plus for me, one is not bombarded with so many choices!) We ordered the tuna ceviche, burger and swordfishclub. Food was more than very good and a good portion. I just wish they are dog-friendy, our pug would’ve loved it too!????Will definitely come back here for the view! Read more
