Reviews for Newport Lobster Shack (Kitchen) in Newport, RI

This lobster shack is literally an actual shack on a giant fishing pier/dock that I was actually really excited to go to which... is weird because I generally do not eat fish. However, it ended up costing us around $35-$50 per person and sadly the food justwasn't that great :- It was the perfect setting to enjoy fresher than fresh lobster on the water, but it would have been so muchbetter if the food was as good as the environment. Then the high cost of lunch would have actually been worth the moneypaid. There were also somewhat clean porta-potties around back for public use, and tons of shops in the area. Read more

Freshest lobster rolls in Newport. Not a lot of mayo goes on them which I truly appreciate cause it lets the lobster do the... talking. They do have a variety of chowders and the options to buy the lobster yourself. They?ll actually boil it for you whichI regret not pulling the trigger to do. Reasonably priced options though. The seating is picnic bench first come first servestyle. Sits right near the water so you get the full coastal experience like something out of a Jaws movie. Definitelyrecommend stopping by here to try it out. Read more

Great spot right in the water with plenty of community style picnic tables under shade. Very fast and efficient and friendly... staff! The lobster roll was great, cold no hot options but this was not overly dressed at all. It very much highlighted thelobster and you can tell how fresh it is. Lobster bisque is a MUST. Amazing. Full of flavor, generous with the lobster and socreamy. Yum. Best price around five lobster. Highly recommend. Read more

Lets start from the positive. Great location, great fast service with a smile. Tons of sitting outside with great views. The... lobster meat was done well. Tasted good too. Sadly the cheap, stale untoasted hotdog bun instead of buttered crispy briosh bun.Adding insult to injury they give you Lays chips. How hard is it to make your own? The prices of their live lobsters are 80%more than many other places. With so many lobster shacks you simply can do much better. Read more

The best lobster roll I?ve ever had! It?s a lot of lobster inside, chunks are big, very little mayo which is perfect.... Surprisingly cheap coleslaw. Great and fast service. Read more

The two lobster meal is a better value than lobster rolls. The chick lobster roll is not worth the $20, it does not have enough... lobster for that price. I would recommend the Lobster strips for $20, that is a better value. They close at 6pm on Sundays sotry to make it there by 5pm on Sunday's. They also sell hand picked lobster meat in an adjacent little building. You eat onpicnic tables under a tent roof. They also have live fish in a tank that has flowing water from the bay. You can fresh fishthere. The fishing boats come into the docks right next to the lobster shack. Read more

August 2022: Came here for a late lunch and tried the lobster roll and the calamari. Overall, I liked my meal but it wasn't... very remarkable. The lobster roll is served cold with celery and mayo on a hot dog bun. Personally, I prefer the hot lobsterroll with butter and a brioche roll. Could also have used a bit of sea salt to enhance the flavor. The calamari was served withbanana peppers and cocktail sauce. I liked the combination of peppers and cocktail sauce ????. Overall, rating four ? because Ihad higher expectations of the lobster roll. Read more

Kitchen only uses Fresh seafood. The lobster roll was perfect, full of lobster meat, very fresh, bread not soggy. I like the... Lobster strips, which were lightly coated and fried, just as described. Fish & chips and clam chowder were also very tasty.Great choice. Definitely will go again. Read more
