Reviews for Rose Hill Cafe in Newburgh, IN
I stopped by this place on a Saturday morning. If you're in a hurry this is not the place you want to go. The menu is limited... and the Staffing is limited. I believe it even states on the menu somewhere that food is made to order. It took about 35 minutesto get my order. The food was very good and it was hot. I will go back. Read more
Mixed reviews for Rose Hill Cafe everywhere you look. We decided to give it a shot - was not impressed. The atmosphere is... lacking some comfort and decor. Staff were friendly and definitely had small town charm. Biscuits and Gravy - 1/5 stars. Astaple of the american breakfast diner, but this one fell very short of expectations. Biscuits are dense. The gravy had astrong flour taste when you finally got around the heavy handed ground pepper. Cubed (!?) sausage pieces thrown on top to makeit sausage gravy. Lots of room for improvement. Caramel Apple French Toast - 2/5 stars. The sourdough french toast was goodby itself (would actually order that again), but the canned glazed apples and lackluster caramel drowned the bread out. PlainPancake - 2/5 stars. As others have noted, the batter for the pancakes could use some improvement. The pancakes did have afluffy texture, but had to add extra butter and syrup to get through. Really hoping this place can make some adjustments. Welove supporting local businesses and I think with some changes, this place can right the ship. We'll probably give it a couplemonths and try again, hope to edit this review then. Read more
Service was good and so was timing. However food was very bland. My moms pancake was raw and more tomatoe on my BLT than... anything. Could tell it wasn?t fresh ingredients. Could use an update on the inside, such as music and newer dishes. Will not bereturning. Read more
It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I stopped in for breakfast and got scrambled eggs, German fries, sausage, and... biscuits and gravy. The portions weren't big and it was kind of bland. Which explains why there were so many senior citizensthere. The server was helpful, but I could tell that she didn't want to be there. Which made things feel akward anduncomfortable. Not to mention that there was no music playing and the other diners weren't saying a word to each other. On theplus side, it was a cheap meal. But I didn't enjoy my experience. So I won't be going back. Read more
Visiting Evansville and wanted to try non-chain breakfast site. Not particularly busy on a Saturday morning but even so service... was VERY slow and had to seek out coffee refills. Food was good and arrived in timely fashion after order was finally taken. Read more
