Went today with a friend and got the New Orleans. It was amazing and can't wait to go back and try their other sandwiches! My... only negative is that there is little or no advertising on this place! It's nestled in the area but only found it when lookingthrough Google maps. Read more

Wow, this restaurant is a real find. It's right near NJIT and two other campuses in Newark, and it's clear that the owner, who... also was our cook and server, is a professionally-trained chef. His New Orleans (fish) sandwich was swoon-worthy. My son had theFirst Ward (chicken parm) sandwich and my husband had the New York Cheese Steak. Both liked them. I had the Garden Salad, whichwas a side salad, and it tasted and looked much better than your typical side salad. The chef/owner had obviously put a lot ofeffort and thought into the taste and presentation of even the lowly salad. The gentleman was very gracious and lovely tointeract with. I loved, loved that he had wrapped the fork's tines and the knive's blades with pieces of paper napkin to protectthem from any possible contamination. Very clean place, by the way. The ambiance is simple, and the space has a small very cutebar in the back center of the room; and outside seating, What's original is that the entire restaurant is a free-standing house. Read more

Probably one of the tastiest chicken sandwiches I've ever had. There's this "maple-sauce" they add into the mix that puts it... over the top. Also the restaurant is this cute, oddly-placed, "Revolutionary War-feel" to it that you rarely find in Newark eventhough the owner(?) said it was built in 1906. Love it! Read more

Forget about Katz's Delicatessen in NYC, they can not compete with Resa Ruben. Donald, the owner, is the greatest and most... humble chef in the East Coast. His menu is creative and one of a kind. We are regular customers since our first visit in August2019. Some months later, Donald started renovations but it coincided with the Pandemic so the renovation is going very slowly.Don't let yourself be disappointed when you arrive there and you see constructions are going on, it's the food that matters. And, the food is unbleivably cheap compared to the quality. I always tell Donald he has to double his price! Read more

I have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got the chance. I called in my order of The Vermont (no bacon)... which was a fried chicken sandwich with a side of fries. The man said it would take about 20 minutes. When I arrived it wasn'twhat I expected. I thought it was going to be a restaurant but it was a smaller place where you just go to the window and pickup your food. The place also had a lot of construction being done, but those are the kind of places that have the best foodlol. When I walked up to the window the man said its not done yet and I went back to the car to wait. He called me when it wasready and I walked up and paid. I took a peak inside and it seemed pretty clean and well kept. The food was a little over $11.When I got home I dug in. The fries were seasoned really well and was tasty. The sandwich was thick and hefty. It was prettygood as well. All in all I had a pretty decent experience and I would try something else in the future. Read more

Been a long time coming that I write a review for RESA Grill. Where to even start; - Co-owners Donald and Steve are two amazing... guys that are genuine, kind, hospitable, and honest with their customers. - The food? Amazing. Delicious. Hot. Homemade. Worthyof 5 stars and more if the ratings went higher. Get the Vermont Rooster because it demolishes any other fried chicken sandwichw/ fries that you've ever had before. - At the time of writing this, RESA is under-going construction but STILL serving up mealsthru a pandemic and without seating. AND they still have parking for pick-up. Dedication. I've gone for years now and willcontinue to as long as they stay open. Every time someone asks me where I recommend to eat, this is my go-to. Best of luck. Read more
