The other day I got Jamrock Island Cove for lunch. I ordered their medium Jerk Pork w/ Rice and Peas & Collard Greens, with a... Beef Patty as the side. First of all I didn?t even know Jerked Pork was a thing lol. It was absolutely phenomenal. It had greatflavor, the pork was very tender, and had an excellent meat to fat ratio. The Rice and Peas were pretty good as well too. Thebest, for me though, were the Collard Greens! Usually I get their Oxtail Dinner (Which is AMAZING btw) with the cabbage. Butwanted to try something different. Man were those collard greens on point! The Beef Patty on the other hand was absolutelylacking. Barely tasted the beef and there was a lot more dough than filling. But at least the dough was fresh! All in all Iabsolutely love Jamrock. Their food is always great, just a little disappointed in the beef patty. I would absolutely recommendJamrock to anyone looking for some good Jamaican food in the Newark area! Read more
The whiting sandwich was horrible!!! Dry overcooked small for $8?!!!! The rice and peas were good. Stew chicken lacks flavor and... tenderness and definitely is not ?Jamaican ?? I never even received any plantains????? fried chicken was nasty more flour thananything lacking flavor. Cabbage is ok but could be softer. Candied yams is a joke! Dry bland yams without a glaze?! Don't waste your money. I don't usually write reviews but I'm writing this because "it burn me". So here it is: The jerk chicken... lacked flavor. It taste like regular chicken with jerk sauce poured on it The fry chicken was worse then the jerk chicken. Noflavor and very dry. The portions were small. I literally keep going here because the food is good. ( sometimes cold ) but nonetheless pretty good. The oxtails are some of... the best oxtails compared to other Jamaican Restaurants and one hidden gem about this restaurant is the stew chicken. The gravyon it is very good? THAT BEING SAID THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS h o r r I b l e !!! Very passive aggressive rudeness. I walk in toorder and they just stare at me. No hello how are you, can I help you or anything! I hate that. They cut you off quick and tryto speed up your order. Today they even made one order quick and I was not even done placing my order. Again it?s that serioushow much I dislike the rudeness the girls here have. But I keep spending my money here because the food is actually decent.
