We ordered empanadas for empanadas day and they were great but the price on the menu was $5. But once there they were $7. We... ordered a sandwich and some rice to,, everything was good. We just were very upset that everything wasn't the right price,,, weexpected $31. But paid $41. After waiting for almost 2 hours, 3 of us in a party of 12 never got our food. Everyone else was done eating so we cancelled... the remaining orders. Plus it?s extremely cold in there. The food is ok, needs more seasoning and the Mofongos are dry...mofongos should all come with lots of sauce regardless of what meat topping you get. The rice and beans are subpar... Iwouldn?t recommend this place at all for dinner... maybe takeout for a quick lunch (if that). Read more
Delicious!! We just tried this restaurant for the first time in an effort to support local business while social distancing.... Have to say we were thrilled with the quality and taste of this dishes even after our 20 min drive back home! We had nevertried mofongo before - but will be going back for some more- the flavors were spectacular! Our food was ready when we arrivedand the service was great. This restaurant is a simpler version of the owner?s original restaurant ?Ole Tapas? on Kirkwood highway, but just as fabulous!!... The food is delectable and will not disappoint your eyes, nose, nor palate. Presentation, portions and flavor will keep youreturning time after time!! Read more
Dirty glasses; waited almost two hours for the food, when first plate comes out it was not what we ordered, 5 minutes later they... bring out the second plate again not what we ordered. We approached the lady that was behind the counter and told her we wereleaving and we were going to,pay for the sodas, she went to the kitchen owner comes out apologizes and did not charge the forthe sodas. The food was delicious once it came out. They only had one waiter who I felt bad for who was really all by himself he had no... help at all. Empanadas were amazing! I think we will wait a few months until they figure out how to staff the place. Honestlythe food was so amazing after totally loosing patience waiting forever even just for a drink I still want to give it anothertry. We finally have authentic Latin food in the Newark area. We visited Cafetal last night and are already thinking about our next... visit. The place has seating for about 40 people. We were pleasantly greeted at the door and promptly seated. The service wasexcellent from beginning to end. It was hard to decide what to get because the menu had so many excellent choices and many ofthe foods from home that I have been craving. We ordered the chicken mofongo and ropa vieja and both were delicious! The foodswere seasoned well and the flavors were authentic. The portions were generous and the prices reasonable. We had the nutella flanfor dessert and it puts my homemade flan to shame. I need to get a hold of that recipe! One last note, if you order the mofongoplease be patient. It takes time to make it if you want it done right, but it will be worth the wait. Read more
Cafe Tal was better a couple years ago, when it was next door? now owned by Ole Tapas / inside Ole restaurant, food quality went... down significantly. I was disappointed in the flavor and presentation. Photos online were not the same meal i paid for inperson. Grilled chicken was pale and slimy, yellow rice was flavorless.
