Not amazing nor good value. Girlfriend had wanted to come here for ages. We got seated outside facing the sidewalk. Dishes... were pretty basic. We had a pasta dish that was particularly watery. I went high and was still disappointed - that’s when youknow. Service was mediocre, not sure I’d come back. + 1 star for Molly Shannon coming in while we were there. Read more

Salad and veg starts we’re all excellent. Big portions. Recommend basic salad and carrots. Pastas also nice. Good for brunch... or dinner. Wine a little warm but nice. Read more

Great service at Via Carota, the staff make it a welcoming place and accept walk ins, although depending on the day you may have... to wait. Its definitely worth it! The dishes were amazing and surprisingly light, even for the heavier dishes. Everything wasvery fresh from the insalata Verde to the tagliatelle that i ordered. Delicious! The tiramisu wasn't too sweet and had the rightamount of coffee and creaminess. Read more

This was my first time to Via Carota, so I was excited because I’ve heard great things. And it lived up to the hype! Didn’t... have a reservation, so put our name down for bar seating on a Thursday at 7:30 pm. Had a drink while we waited and only had timefor one martini before our spot was ready. The cocktails were amazing! My favorite was the 1397 Negroni. The food was great!Roasted carrots were loaded with pistachios. They weren’t really warm, but I’m guessing that’s how they’re meant to beserved since they’re served with a creamy yoghurt base. The roasted artichokes were just ok, probably my least favorite thingthat we tried. The grilled octopus was delicious, perfectly charred and came with an olive tapenade that was tasty. The pasta(cacio e pepe) was really flavorful and rich. But my favorite thing of the night, hands down, was the hand chopped steak. It wassuper delicious, perfectly seasoned, seared and crispy on the outside and rare on the inside. It was soooo good! I couldliterally eat one of those every day. So simple, but done perfectly. Will definitely be returning! Read more

This is my favorite NYC restaurant and I visit every time I'm in town. I ate lunch here on Friday with my son to celebrate his... graduation and the food was delicious. The only reason I didn't give a 5-star review was the rudeness of a junior staff person.I arrived when they opened at 11am and requested a specific table outside while I waited for my son. The young man insisted Itake a less desirable table even though very few diners were there at that point. I held my ground. He very visibly shared hisannoyance with other staff who sent some glares my way. I'm hoping management notes the concern raised here. That said, Irealize the challenges even the best restaurants have retaining quality staff these days. Read more

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place on a beautiful day and were able to get seated on the patio immediately for lunch.... The atmosphere and food were both incredible and left us wanting to come back. I had the tagliatelle the prosciutto wasdelicious and sauce coating the pasta was one of the best I’ve had in the city. My boyfriend had a pork belly special and itwas phenomenal. Definitely worth the stop! Read more

What a delight. They have great portion sizes and the food...I felt like I was back in Italy. If you don't have a reservation I... recommend just walking in at 2pmish and asking for a seat on a weekday. Weekend without a reservation? Forget about it Read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in to see if they could accommodate us for lunch, though we didn’t have any reservations. The... friendly host (didn’t get his name) said there would be about a 30-minute wait and we would receive a text when the table wasready. This, to my boyfriend and me, was indicative of their excellent service that was to come: the restaurant was half full, yet they still were on a wait. That told me that they value quality of service rather than getting the tables filled regardlessof whether or not they have the servers to wait them. We got our text less than 30 minutes later. As expected, the service wastop-notch; our waters were never low, and our waitress, Alison, consistently (but not overbearingly) checked in with us to makesure everything tasted good and to make sure we didn’t need anything. Alison also was an excellent waitress from the fact thatshe knew the menu extremely well, including the specials of the day, and she could without falter explain every ingredientin-depth with an obvious, true understanding of the dishes she was selling. The food was excellent, though we felt the pastacarbonara and tagliatelle was a bit salty; that could just be personal preference. We highly recommend this Via Carota toanyone wanting a five-star dining experience for incredible Italian cuisine in New York. Read more
