Have been here couple of times. Authentic mix of Marathi and Gujarati flavors. Vatan is not just about food. This family owned... and run place is about Indian village experience. Rustic mud walls, small huts, floor seating and served food in big steelplates. The price point is also something that will not break your bank. People there are also caring and helpful. I havetaken few non-Indian friends there and they loved it too. You can ask for non-spicy food and they will serve that. Read more

Very good food from the western india- Gujarati Cuisine. The service was also excellent our sever name was Payal , she was... extremely attentive and very pleasant. Please reserve the table before going there . We were asked to remove footwear and sit in crossed leg seating- traditional Indian seating for eating meal. They serve the 3 course meal - appetizers, main course andthen dessert. We were stuffed in the first course it self. I would definitely recommend this place and visit again when in NewYork city. Great food, great ambience, even better service. Two negatives: 1. They over feed you. Better to offer only appetizer or only... entrees or maybe reduce the number of offerings. The overall food offered is overwhelming 2. We asked them for togo boxes andwere told that restaurant policy allows them to not allow any food to be taken out of their premise. This is crazy. What kind ofpolicy is that which allows the food to be wasted? Disappointed Read more

Vatan is an extraordinary representation of regional authenticity in Indian cuisine - Gujarati food. This isn't some hole in the... wall, but quite a spacious, architecturally beautiful and soul satisfying restaurant. The moment you walk in, you are charmedby the village style decor of Gujarat. The unlimited prix fixed menu is the way to go - lots of Appetizers, main course &desserts to fill you up. Each item has a unique taste and is mostly healthy, vegetarian food. I am from Gujarat & can vouch forthis place as authentic. At $50pp, it ain't cheap but overall worth the pleasant experience. Read more

All you can eat Gujarati vegetarian food -- was in heaven for a few hours. The waiter was so encouraging to try all the items.... We literally had food coma! All items were wonderfully made. I have visited Vatan a few times in the past twenty years and ithas always been very good. It's pricey but go with an empty stomach and eat your heart out. You will enjoy every bit of it. Youwill also experience the diversity and richness in Indian vegetarian cuisine. Read more

The food quality and variety is great. We loved each bite of it. The reason that bowled us over was our host of the evening... JAY!!He is the manager at Vatan, his warm smile and down to earth hospitality is something that remained with us even after ourdinner. Excellent choice for anyone who loves and appreciates quality Indian vegetarian food especially from Gujarati State. Read more
