In town for NYU weekend which included a visit to Craft. Unfortunately, we can't make the brunch so I made a reservation for... Vallata. A little odd to be the only table outside but the waitress totally saved it, she was amazing. Great service. Almosteverything was delicious from the kale salad to the RICOTTA CAVATELLI with short ribs. dessert reminded me of pazkis ormalasadas in Hawaii, fried doughnut with cream. My husband said the cod was fresh but not much flavor so we split thecavatelli. The hostess promised to maybe move us inside but never did, it worked out. Food yes, service yes, atmosphere outsideok, inside looked fun. One downside of outside dining is the smokers come out of the restaurant and create a puff of smoke rightin the same area, didn't like that at all, there should be separate area. Read more

Went into the city and wanted to eat here before going to a show later in the evening. We had an 8:00 reservation, but were only... seated at 8:40. After being seated we still had to wait 10 minutes to get the attention of our server. We ended up having tocancel our entrees because we ran out of time. This experience soured what was supposed to be a fun night in the city. At leastthe apps were good? Read more

Let’s start with the prices, yikes. But if you move past that, there’s a great deal for pasta+house choice glass of wine for... $30 which was well worth it ?? Great staff and service; nice location with some street seating a good casual friend date/firstdate spot. The bucatini Cacio e Pepe was divine. Home made pasta for the win. Wine choices were a bit off the beaten path butnot bad. Don’t skip dessert..! Read more

A cozy Italian eatery run by Tom Colicchio. Less fancy than next door's Craft, their sister reataurant. On a weeknight the... servers were friendly but overall service was often very slow and inattentive - our table all ordered pasta and my one friendneeded to ask multiple times for her food. It took about 20 minutes after the rest of us had been served for her to get hermeal; we were basically finished eating by that point (we had waited a while to start to be polite, but had to eat without hereventually because the food would get cold). The server did give the table extra wine after my friend's meal was served, butthat friend can't have wine (and had expressed that) and nothing was ever rectified that impacted her directly (e.g. no compeddessert or anything that other restaurants may do). Our meal time ended up being close to 3 hours due to the slow service. Thisis extremely different from the very attentive service we have had at Craft, where we've had more courses in far less yet stillappropriately paced time. The pasta and appetizers were well done, but it might be better to try the pasta at Craft instead fora more special meal out. That being said, dessert was positively received by our table. We will return to Craft, but it'sunlikely we will return to Vallata unless we have specific pasta craving and a lot of time to kill. Read more

With a menu that changes daily, you would expect freshness, but this level of freshness was phenomenal. The chickpea salad was... flavorful and balanced while the skirt steak was perfectly marinated. Read more

We were there celebrating a birthday. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Everyone was so helpful and... fun, including the chef that photo-bombed us. The food was amazing from start to finish, including the little bowl of gelatowith a birthday candle. Read more
