Reviews for The Ribbon in New York, NY
Great food. Very energetic atmosphere. Advice: Call for reservations; especially on the weekends. A true gem of a restaurant.
This place is fantastic. Great ambience even being on 72nd st. Still relatively quiet even sitting outside on the sidewalk - and... great people watching. The inside is really nice, great bar. Service is super friendly - managing to be laid back but superefficient at the same time. Food was great, I recently had the Ribbon steak - with mashed potatoes as suggested by the waiter -really good. Can't say enough about this place - if you're looking for a nice place, good food, to have a meal and/or hang outthis is a great option. Read more
I can review my experience from three perspectives. The space, the food and the service. The space is clean and spacious with... comfortable seats but the overall design is soulless, which is a quality that I recognize when it’s not there. The service isgood only for filling water glasses. Our server was pretending to be nice but it was obvious that he didn’t care to provide agood service and I picked it up from his overall manner. When I told him my burger was served cold after the first bite, he wassurprised like I told something offensive and suggesting warming it up with a microwave or oven, which I agreed to and hereluctantly did so. And the food! We spent 5 days in NYC and experienced high end french, Italian, Mexican and Americanrestaurants and it was the worst one. We ordered a Shroomburger with fries and a Beyondburger with salad. The shroomburger wasdry uncooked meat which felt you were chewing rubber and the fries were machin cut regular fries you can get from macdonald! Thebread was also so typical which is the least you expect from a $25 burger. The beyondburger was anything but beyond. It was likeyou got a frozen burger from a chain grocery store and fried it in a pan. Tastless! We were visiting from Texas and very wellknow what a burger is and what can be beyond or not! I regret every penny paid in this restaurant and would not recommend it atall. My honest review cannot be more than one star for this experience. At least not for it’s burgers and the service! Zero stars for the service. Three stars for the average food. It was the bartender’s first day when we came for dinner. We... waited for 10 minutes before he took our drinks orders, then another 15 for food orders. There were 6-8 wait staff and a manageron duty but everyone was just standing around chatting while the poor guy was behind the bar by himself. An hour later, ourentry never came so we left. On the way out we see the manager just chilling and smoking on the street. What a poorly run place. Read more
Delicious bar food in a great atmosphere for a decent price. It's more affordable than most diners in the area (here's looking... at you Cafe Viand, the hell are you thinking charging $22 for an egg white omelette??) This will become a standard spot for me.Had the french dip sandwich and it was perfect. Great french fries too. Just very very solid good food. Read more
If you want good service I'd suggest going to olive garden at least their servers check on you and refill your water and such,... our original server got off his shift and he claimed someone else would take care of us but no one ever came. I dont even knowhow to tip for this meal cos a tip is for service but there wasn't any. Food Is decent but not worth the price I'd had betterstreet food from a McDonald's then this, I don't really understand why it's so expensive if their food is mediocre and thewaiters don't pay attention Read more
My son took me to breakfast here. I love this place! My personal food assistant was amazing. They were very attentive, patient... and helpful. The decor was very pleasant, and it was very well staffed. I will return on my next visit to see my son. Read more
