Great restaurant in Murray Hill / Gramercy Park neighborhood. The restaurant has a nice lounge area at the entrance where they... also host live music. The main dinning room has a large seated bar as well as a full dining room. It is an open kitchen with awood burning fireplace where pizza is a must. We had the kale Caesar salad, margherita pizza and salmon entree. Well portionedto share and delicious. Great spot for a cozy fall dinner in NYC. PS. Great rooftop bar with an amazing view. It's been challenging finding great New American restaurants in New York compared to SF, but discovering Sweetbriar around the... block from us has finally resolved that. Sweetbriar's sauces and dips help elevate regular dishes to great heights - the menu isfull of well-done comfort food coupled with an inviting and cosy atmosphere in the restaurant. We started with the stone groundcornbread, which was baked fresh and hot. This took some convincing with my partner, who's not a fan of the dish, but even shetook a liking to it. The honey butter was delicious and helped add some moisture to the bread's dryness. We got the Sweetbriarburger and the spicy mangalitsa pizza. The burger disappeared in literally five minutes - it was just incredibly juicy with veryfresh ingredients, topped by a very well done brioche bun. The garlic chives aioli for the crispy potato wedges was one of thebest dips I've had in awhile, and it was so good that we ended up dipping the burger and the pizza in it too. The spicymangalitsa pizza was recommended by our server. We loved the crust, and the spiciness was offset well with the honey drizzled ontop of it, and we just dipped it in the aioli for additional flavor. The chocolate mousse to cleanse the palate at the end wasour least favorite dish of the night. The texture was a bit too soft and the sweetness overwhelmed the chocolate. Very friendly & professional customer service. Our waitress went above & beyond & shared some great suggestions from the menu. I... tried the “Bramble” cocktail (perfect) and my husband the “American Beauty cocktail” ( light flavors and delicious) theone with the white egg foam on top and roses) Everything from the menu looked so good, but my husband and I both decided to gowith the “ Smoked Black Pepper Maple Duroc Ribs” which were marvelous! ( this is a dish that this place is well-knownfor) As starters we ordered the “Grilled Chicken Wings with sweet chilly” & “Fried Dill Beans.” For the table we hadthe “Russet Potatoes Wedges” & their famous “Cornbread” (SO good, soft, warm and kind of sweet) I highly recommend thisplace to EVERYONE! First off I was instructed to state that "my wife really enjoyed it" I however did not. Secondly, the staff were amoung the... best I have encountered in a LONG while. Perfect level of attentive without being overbearing, personable and not aloof. Justthe perfect balance of what restaurant staff should be Pizza: way too much honey on it for my liking but the base of the pizza(sauce, dough, cheese and cured meat) were perfection. Not sure why it needed the honey Grilled wings: wet and not veryflavorful. I get that the outside is supposed to be wet however even with the char on the outside the inside was wet, not moistbut wet. I am not even sure what the sauce was supposed to add. It was just sugar no spice or other flavor came thru. CrispyRomanesco: this was devine....simply perfect Kohlrabi: I am sure many others will love this dish I love kohlrabi but the saucewas just not to my taste. Again my wife loved this dish! Five stars to Sweetbriar mostly due to a very accommodating staff from server to bartender. They fit my party in without a... reservation without making us feel like second class citizens. The maple pepper ribs were not like you commonly find. I likedthe sauce combination but then again anything with maple is good to me. The bartender pair it well with a nice white. Read more
