The ambiance was great and service was great. However, the food was not the best. Butter chicken is one of my favorite Indian... food but this one was not good . I guess if the chicken was cooked a little more it would have been great. The overall maincourse not so good but appetizers were delicious. My companions did not like their drinks. I had mocktails and it was ok. Read more

The ambiance is very classy and upscale. I especially love the serving dishes, cutlery and plates. They elevate the... experience, it feels homely. Each dish we had was full of flavor and a treat to the tastebuds! It isn’t just your ordinaryIndian dishes, there is a fusion flair that takes each dish to the next level. Service was extremely friendly and prompt. Thisplace is definitely worth a visit! Read more

We came here for NYC Restaurant Week and left feeling disappointed. Generally speaking, we didn't find the food to be impressive... at all. I don't think it was outright bad but none of it stood out and it felt like the flavors were not really wellthought-out. To add onto this, service was also pretty slow and wasn't very attentive. That being said, the ambience wasexcellent and the drinks were quite good. The aesthetic of the dining room was modern and classy and generally was a very niceplace to be in. It is worth a visit here, I just wouldn't come with high expectations. In a city with so many fantasticelevated Indian restaurants, I don't think SONA matches up at all from a culinary standpoint. However, there are other aspectsyou might enjoy. Read more

I'm a fan of Priyanka Chopra and had wanted to check it out since it opened. I agree with other reviews regarding to the... authentic taste. The flavors were not strong and flavorful like other Indian restaurants. But the food itself was stilldelicious. It's on the lighter side. It is more Modernn Indian. So if you're looking for true authentic India fare then this isnot the place. But if you're looking for a nice ambiance; good service (everyone had very positive attitude and upbeat energylike they were actually happy to be there) good date spot or just a chill hangout spot, then this is the place. Modern andclassy decor inside. We came for brunch and got a special treat (drag performance) and they had a DJ (DJ Dream). Read more

Good but I have questions…. The food was good! Can’t complain about anything we had. We hit the classics and tried house... signature cocktails ???? but nothing really stood out and would make me want to come back. This is why I thought that our dinnerwas very expensive. The check was as much as you would pay at Michelin star restaurants, but without that WOW factor. Theinterior was cheap looking (badly painted walls) and a sad looking bar. You pay for an ambiance as well, when you go out to eat.I am guessing the recession is hitting New York restaurants. ???? Get lamb chops and butter chicken ???? skip the $19 cocktails(before tax) Read more

This is not your average Indian food. Sona provides a very fresh take on Indian cuisine, with a subtle reminder of flavors from... back home. The ambiance is chic, bar is fantastic and the service spot on. My personal favorite was the mutton cutlet. We willdefinitely be back! Read more

First of all, I had one of the best times during dinner. Service was Lil slow but we had a good time so no problems. We end up... having 5 bottles of wine 2 rounds of cocktails. And Tons of food. We end up spending $200++ per person and left prettyhappy. Our server was amazing. The bartender was cool and nice fast with drinks. The ambiance was beautiful. I will definitelyrecommend this place to anyone. I would say it’s more like modern innovative laid back Indian American cuisine. Decent winelist. Decent cocktails list. Read more
