First spend over $1000 for 2 on a meal. Definitely little bit overpriced, but they have 6 round sushi (It’s a lot for most of... the Omakase). But very good quality and exclusive place. Service is awesome. Read more

Although this place is on the expensive side, it‘s definitely a must-go place if you want to treat yourself to some... extraordinary good sushi. It‘s a set menu which is prepared right in front of you and the chef also tells you which fish youare currently eating. The service was more than splendid too. Can‘t wait to go there again someday!! An Omakase style sushi taste testing is a unique experience. You are leaving it up to the chef to pick out what you should eat.... They serve one piece at a time. they wait for you to eat it and swallow it before they serve the next piece. so it doesn’tinterfere with the taste of the last one. It comes with a hefty price but it’s something you have to try sometime in yourlife. The place had a nice atmosphere and it was small. the chef and the waitress was giving me some recommendations that tasteamazing. They were awesome and extremely friendly. Read more

On the pricier side but it was definitely worth it. Everything was delicious and fresh. We dined in the private room which is at... basement level and unfortunately the heater wasn't working so it was a little cold but, despite that, I still enjoyed myexperience and would come back! Also, 2 people I was with got the beverage pairing (it's not just sake) and they were verypleasantly surprised with the amount they got for the price. The omakase course ended with some very delicious ice cream and Icouldn't resist asking for a second serving of it (which they gave to me on the house!!). Overall I'd recommend it if you arelooking for a high quality and unique omakase experience. Read more

Food was excellent. However, something that concerned me was the waitress who was not wearing her mask properly. It was always... below her nose and at times she had pulled it down completely when she was within the sushi counter. Definitely needs work forservice and professional given the current Covid situation. The sushi chefs and other servers did wear their mask properly so Iwas a tad bit confused on why they would not tell her to. Read more

Impromptu Friday night parents only dinner when we grabbed a reservation after seeing the Chef on Dave Chang's latest television... show. You enter an unassuming door into the restaurant with the sushi bar in the front with seating for about 16. We weregreeted at the door and quickly seated despite being 20 minutes early and then immediately met by the waiter who assisted inselecting a champagne that was exactly what we wanted. The sushi is pretty traditional with minimalist seasoning (soy sauce, lime, lemon, garnish) and what blew us away was the texture of the fish that had this bounce to it. Each piece was delicious, but the food memory that entered my top 10 was the toro, caviar and uni on a piece of toasted milk bread (pictured here).Overall, a great omakase experience and we will definitely return. This was my first omakase experience, and I admit that I was hesitant because of the price ($228 pp). Shuko was worth every... penny and then some. The entrance is unassuming with a speakeasy type of feel, and if you aren’t paying attention (especiallyat night) you could walk right past it. The interior is intimate and well decorated with the large bar counter as thecenterpiece, where you can enjoy watching the chefs work. A lot of reviews complained about the music, but honestly I loved it.It was really cool to be able to vibe out to some R&B and hip hop in an upscale sushi restaurant of all places! For a nicelypaced omakase and pleasant conversation with the chef, try a later weekday reservation (8-10 pm) as it’s not too busy. Thestaff was really friendly, and the service was attentive. Not only was our sushi chef extremely talented, he was also very kindand lovely to talk with. He even prepared an extra special item for us since we were celebrating my husband’s birthday. Theselections were to die for. The standouts for me were the uni, the spicy toro with scallion and chili mayo, and the smoky searedKama toro, which might just be the single best bite of food you ever have in your life. If you’re thinking about splurging onomakase in Manhattan, and DON’T mind an early 2000’s era Ludacris jam session, try Shuko. I promise you’ll leave fulfilledand elated (albeit a little bit more broke). Read more
