It was my birthday and I was looking for a special place to celebrate in Harlem as we were going to the Apollo for amateur... night. I am born and live in Jersey and consider myself to have been raised in New York because the time spent in all fourboroughs from my college days to now. After reviewing the restaurants in the area, and making a reservation at a very popularsoul food restaurant, I cancelled it several days later after coming across the Renaissance and making reservations. It is avery intimate island like ambiance and they consider their cuisine to be French American with an infusion of African flavor. Our waiter who also doubled as the host was very personable, engaging and extremely helpful with the menu. We ordered thelobster macaroni and cheese as an appetizer and it was simply to die for!! For entrees, my wife ordered the leg of lamb and hadthe red snapper. The lamb was served with couscous and my snapper was served with a special African rice that was amazing andperfectly cooked leafy spinach. When I tell you that everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection trust me! For those ofyou who love hot sauce our host introduced me to their homemade hot sauce! We know hot sauce is hot, however this sauce hadflavorful taste that did not disappoint. As you will see in the pictures this how we eat to live! Overall, I give thisrestaurant 5 stars and it was a perfect choice for my special day. Read more

The service was great during my experience at the restaurant with my Family. We were there on Mother's Day and our Mother loved... it. Food and service was good. Accommodations were made that were asked for. The waitress was polite and efficient also. One ofthe Managers even took a Family pic for us when we asked and didn't mind taking several until it was the perfect shot.Definitely recommend this restaurant and will like to eat there again. By chance of the restaurant I originally set out to eat at being closed, I found this gem in a google search. I called to... confirm of they were open and if I reservations were needed; the person that answered the phone was very nice and told me, wecould come right in. There was no parking so we parked in the Laz Parking Lot, right around the corner ($38 for 1.5 hrs forsuv’s). Beautiful ambience, music volume just right, Great customers service (Valentine is extremely informative andattentive, while not being overbearing), Good portions of food and even better presentation. The spinach was made to perfection,my meal was also enjoyable. I would return and recommend. Read more

I ordered the lobster ravioli with a side of asparagus, my friend ordered the salmon with mash potatoes and her sister got the... lobster risotto with a side of spinach. For appetizers we ordered shrimp dumplings. Everything was delicious and the portionsize was filling. They have a bottomless brunch for $25 per person which consist of mimosas and red or white sangria. The placeis a little pricy and I'd give it a $$ out of 3. But the food and service is well worth the price. Read more

Great neighborhood restaurant - French trained, fresh & delicious. LGBTQ friendly and great service. Wonderful for a birthday,... anniversary, or brunch for bottomless mimosas. Valentine is truly an asset to this outstanding restaurant. We enjoyed the blacksea bass with a coconut curry stew of roast vegetables and a side of saffron coconut rice and a lovely lobster risotto withfresh peas which definitely tasted like an American southern dish - a cousin to creole. We started the meal with the lovelygrilled octopus finished with a pan sauce with roasted Brussel sprouts and spinach. I had a glass of the Calixte rose sparklingand my husband enjoyed a craft cocktail with rum, strawberry, hibiscus, and lime. We will definitely go back. Read more
