If I could I give this place no stars! I been coming here for at least 7 years and I have to say the quality of the food... including the cleanliness was impeccable and good! But what I noticed since this year the food including injera was stale notfresh the ends of the injera had harden the Doro Wat chicken was just ok nothing great. The entire restaurant spell of moldydampness and dirty not sanitary in appearance .The owner needs to get his or hers act together closed this place forrenovations and go back to preparing delicious fresh good quality food like they used to along with cleaner establishment forfood consumption Read more

This is a hidden gem in NY. The food is so good, fresh, savory, filling and inexpensive compared to other places around. This... would definitely be my go-to place when feeling like savory food around Washington Square Park. I ordered the Gomen Beseaga andGod it was great! You could feel all the flavors and they worked out nicely. Also, trying it with the sides makes it evenbetter. The person with me ordered the TIBS Wat and it was so good too. Personally, I liked mine better. The place sure needsa renewal, it isn?t anything fancy and the tables are really close to each other. However, you don?t really mind about the venueconsidering how good the food is. I would definitely recommend it and give it a 5 stars for such a fantastic and traditionallunch meal. Looking forward coming back and trying more stuff here. Read more

The place was ok. I wouldn?t say it was amazing and recommend it to others but I also wouldn?t tell people to avoid it at all... cost. Was a bit thrown off by the service, employee wasn?t very responsive, and seemed unhappy to answer questions regardingthe menu. Portions were pretty small and the food was just okay. I enjoyed the Hawi Ethiopian restaurant in Ithaca more. I gotinto Ethiopian food in college and am trying to eat at different Ethiopian restaurants in the city now. Excited to try out Awashnext Read more

If you have never tried Ethiopian food, then you have no idea what you?re missing! It is full of spice and unique flavors. The... sour-like flavor of the injera bread makes everything tastier. The music inside the place is beautiful, it reminds me of themusic that is heard inside the Ethiopian Orthodox services. The inside decor makes you feel as if you stepped right intoLalibela! TRY THIS PLACE! Read more

Had the meskerem combo and the meskerem tibs. Quite good but the place is such a dump. They really need to renovate. I don't... mind hole in the wall but this place just feels dirty. Read more

The food is good and the servings are sufficient for the price? NYC style. This was the vegetarian combo with one substitution.... The decor is simple, low key? a teeny bit cluttered. Overall, I was pleased. However, I kind of closed one eye when I went tothe restroom. It was clean just not what I?m used to. Read more
