Really good European coffee. Portions are not very large but all the ingredients are fresh, healthy and tasty.

It's never enjoyable to write a negative review but my experience warrants it. Simply put, there are a multitude of authentic... French cafes/bakeries to choose from in NYC. Avoid this one. The breakfast bowl is barely $2 worth of ingredients (mostly wiltedgreens) at a $13.50 asking price. The mini carrot cake is barely half an inch in diameter with a price of $3. AND it wasoverbaked and dry, nit unlike the old-money clientele that seemed to make up the majority of the customer base. Only onewaitress was available to take orders for the sitdown crowd; which made the wait for subpar food even more excruciating. I getit. Times are tough. But you know what? Plenty of other places somehow manage to eek out quality food and service. Until a majoroverhaul takes place, take your hard earned money elsewhere. Le Pain is pain... Read more

Nice little cafe inside Central Park. Love their green tea lemonade with mint. Had the almond croissant and smoked salmon on a... croissant. Read more

We had a late lunch here. Our server was friendly, polite, and attentive. The mushroom & Gruyère quiche was very tasty.... Mushrooms had a nice deep flavor. Finished up with a French cream doughnut and mini brownie that was delicious Read more

Setting aside the fact that this place is so overpriced, the service is one of the worst I?ve gotten in New York. I never write... reviews but I thought I would give notice this time. I came in and went up to order at the register, I wanted a pastry and acoffee. I told the woman working behind the register I wanted to sit down and she gave me the option to pay straight up or sitdown and get the check at the end. Since I was already there I decided to pay straight up, with generous tip as if I hadactually sat down and gotten dine-in service. I get my pastry and sit down while waiting for my coffee. The woman knew I had satdown but my coffee never came. After some time, I asked one of the servers and he quickly brushed me off and told me to askanother waitress, which I did. I very politely asked her if I could get my coffee (I am quite shy and non confrontational atall, I have to ask myself 50 times before talking to waiters because I know they?re busy and I don?t want to be a hassle). Thewaitress (the one with long pink braids) was extremely rude, she responded aggressively that I had to go get it myself at thefront and walked off without the hint of a smile or anything. I got my coffee at the front and left. I had specifically askedthe woman at the register and she gave me the option to pay straight up before sitting down, I tipped as if I had gotten dine-inservice and was reasonable and polite in my request - nothing justified this kind of attitude. The waitress in question had longpink dyed dreads, I didn?t get her name but because of her attitude I?ll never step foot in a Pain Quotidien again. Read more

The chai latte was amazing. The food here is great but I wish there were more locations in other cities. I also tried and loved... the smoked salmon tartine, mixed berry tart, and apricot tart. Read more

I enjoyed my experience at this Location. It?s a nice little cafe to stop in and sit down for a small bite to eat. It?s a... relaxing atmosphere inside. The menu is relatively small and easy to choose from as well. I managed to find decent seating herein the middle of the day. Service was also fast. I?d certainly come back again if I were in the area. Read more

Great place for lunch! Doesn?t feel like a chain! This upper east side location is really charming, with community/family-style... tables and plenty of small tables. Even at peek times I?ve always gotten a small table. The ambience is busy and it?s got anice balance of activity along with the capacity to hear what your companion is saying. Service is always fine. You can takeyour time without feeling rushed here. I?m a fan of the menu here, particularly a nice selection of gluten free items. I alwaysfeel full and healthier when I leave here. Again, it?s the combination of being familiar yet unique at the same time. Bigrecommend. Read more
