Reviews for La Cabaña Salvadoreña in New York, NY
I have been coming here since I was a little girl. This restaurant is a staple in the neighborhood, they have the best pupusas... in Manhattan. They are reasonably priced as well as being irresistibly delicious. You have to try them out! Read more
Humble restaurant with excellent food quality. They carry several Aguas flavors. They have a large variety of typical plates... from el Salvador with excellent customer services. I have visited this establishment a few times and all the waiters have beenpolite. The food takes time since they prepare it as ordered but the wait has always been worth it. The establishment is smallbut offers outside seating. Could offer cleaner tables at times but they won't feel offended if you request for it to be cleanedagain. They are usually packed inside. first time we went to this restaurant, the food was very good, but the service was very slow, We arrived and it took about 10... minutes for them to bring us menus to the table, then more customers arrived after us and their food came out before ours, toomuch. staff working and lousy service, I will give them another chance we will go once again. I love the beef Enchiladas here. They are made fresh to order and taste amazing.
If I could give it 4.5 I would. I was debating between 4 or 5. I decided to go for 5 and here is why: Being part Salvadoran, my... family and I enjoy coming here for some authentic flavors when we can. The pupusas are incredible and I never get tired ofordering a few of queso or revueltas. The horchata is also very comforting and tasty. I have not had the bigger meals, but Iwill definitely be going back for some soon. I was thinking about potentially a 4 because of the outside seating arrangementwhich I believe is relatively new since the pandemic. They are probably working on it still. Yet, the overall restaurant feelshomey and that is a plus! Regresare pronto. Read more
The pupusas are good and the cabbage was nicely seasoned. The maduros were tasty, warm and sweet but I was not impressed with... the ceviche. It lacked citrus and salt. Service was very slow and the waitress never went back to follow up on us. Normally I'mpretty excited about Central American cuisine but this place was disappointing. Read more
Some of the food items were fantastic and deserve a 5. However, 2 of the three food items on my combo plate were burnt or... overcooked, and the service was not good. We sat very close to where the kitchen was, so the staff passed us very often. Manytimes when they walked by they did not ask us if we needed anything and did not notice us trying to get their attention severaltimes. We probably say at our table for more than 15 minutes with both of our waters run out because if this. Ultimately, myhusband had to go up to the hostess/register to ask for refills on water. I dont think this should ever be the case in asit-diwn restaurant. Read more
