Great food and chic ambience. Loved how it was calm and great to have a conversation over beautiful dishes. Portion for each... dish is small but they add up and we couldn?t finish the last 3 dishes! You won?t walk out hungry for sure. Quintessential newyork / LES highend dining. Read more

A fun take on traditional yakitori. They do an omakase with a few appetizers, followed by a bunch of yakitori courses and... dessert. Yakitori is traditionally a cheap food, and it?s interesting seeing the chef elevate it to fancy food ? they mostlypull it off. Though waiters speaking garbled Japanese was a little cheesy, and the price felt a bit high (to be fair, I didleave with a full stomach). Read more

I had such a lovely dinner here the other night. Kono has the best yakitori omakase in nyc. The food was phenomenal and the... ambience was perfect for a birthday dinner. I can?t wait to go back for date night! Read more

This is an absolutely stunning restaurant and delivers an amazing experience. I almost felt like I was dining at an altar (or in... the presence of a major EDM DJ!!).\nThis beautiful 14-seat restaurant is located down an unassuming alley off theBowery.\nEverything on the menu is exquisitely presented and (mostly) delicious.\nMy knowledge of yakitori cooking is extremelylimited so I did not fully appreciate some of the more esoteric menu items, e.g., chicken skin, cartilage, and chicken heart. However, those dining around me, many of whom have been following the chef\'s career over the years, blissed out and savoredevery course.\nNOTE: Kono can get very expensive, very quickly, if you opt for the extras on offer midway through the 16-courseAmish chicken dinner. I ordered the crab legs and some mushrooms. My check came to $550 (with cocktails, taxes and tip).\nBut asI mentioned earlier I came for the experience and Kono delivered -and then some!. Sitting at the 14-person chef\'s table, chatting with interesting, well-informed fellow guests made for a perfect evening.\nThe reason I am giving Kono 4 stars vs. 5has everything to do with me and my limited familiarity with yakitori and the usage of all parts of the chicken.. I think I mayhave been the only diner who was not already an acolyte of chef Kono. Read more
